Yes, Siri reads back texts when asked.

 

Since Toyota hasn't fixed this yet vis software update, I wonder if this is a hardware issue they just can't fix. That would be a major faux pas.

 

It's just odd to me that Apple Maps and Google Maps navigation prompts, and phone calls, all mute the radio using CarPlay, but text messages don't.

 

Text messages do trigger a pause if you’re listening to a podcast, it’s only music which it won’t.
