Fun Father's Day weekend - as always the 4runner took us out to the middle of nowhere and brought us safely back home. =]

Been awhile. Done some stuff. Need new brakes.

I "upgraded" to R1 Concepts heavy duty. They haven't lasted long at all, are noisy and leave a LOT of dust. I think I need something a little more stout than OEM, however. Going to start looking at some options.

Installed Remmen brake pads front and back about two weeks ago. Also lubricated suspension and drive shaft + gave her a full inside and out cleaning. Need to find time this summer for some 4runner adventures..

The Remmen pads are MUCH nicer than the R1 pads I was running (still running the R1 rotors). The R1 pads were extremely dusty. The Remmen pads are also a metal pad (heavy duty due to added vehicle weight and offroading) but they don't throw nearly the dust as the R1. Would recommend!

Thanks! I've put a lot of work into it. Lately we're so dang busy that the 4runner literally just sits in the garage. In spring I'll be done with my MBA and will be able to experience life again...

I've been considering replacing steel bumpers and my roof rack with aluminum stuff, because I love burning $$ apparently.

Had an HID bulb go out finally. Replaced both lowbeam XenonPro bulbs last week. I think I got 3-4 years out of the last one (not sure on run time) so I'm pretty happy with their longevity. Performance is phenomenal.

Updated front and rear brake pads from R1 HD (incredibly dusty and quick wearing) to Remmen. So far the Remmen's seem to be of a much better quality and don't put out anwhere near the dust of the R1s. I would not buy R1s again.

My rear passenger e-brake is broken - need to buy the entire assembly but having a hard time sourcing it.. It's basically a drum brake.

Just me in the vehicle, wife (GF at the time) was behind me in hers. Just got too close to the edge and it washed out from under me.

Rolled 2X down an 80' ravine: 3 days in the hospital, 1 month off work. Fortunately everything has healed with no lingering effects

Damn! Glad you're around to tell the tale. I guess the silver lining is that the 4runners brought you two crazy kids together! ;)

I had a similar experience (sans the actual accident part) when I got too far out on the edge of one of these little soft plateaus. Ground started going from under my front driver and could see daylight under the rear passenger wheel. Fortunately I was with some friends and they were able to help me out of it. Just my son and I in the vehicle and I think he about died of a heart attack that day.

Yup, we met through a local 4R Club.

Exactly what happened to me, just didn't realize it in time to save it. Had the dash cam rolling and all you hear is "Ohhh F&$K" then everything went upside down.

The 4runner has been neglected - nowadays I just take it out and drive irresponsibly in the snow..

My Xenon Depot HID bulbs lasted from 2016 to 2023 when I sold the 4Runner. I can't believe they never went out. Those things were great.
