First 500 miles it read consistently in low 17s. I towed boat about 150 miles and of course it read much lower. Then first trip after towing I reset it. It read in the mid 15s on hwy for about 40 miles. I reset again for return trip on now it is back to mid 17s. It is almost like it had a hangover from towing and just needed to be reset a couple of times.

Your ecu will adjust to the way you drive. If you want to speed up the process, then disconnect the negative end of the battery for about 1/2 hour, then drive the way you normally drive.
