I think Pentair and Hayward are the most common. I’ve only had Hayward stuff and have been happy with it. My buddy with Pentair swears by his too though. The controller software on both kinda suck, but better than they were 10 years ago.

From my understanding, yes, strangely Circupool seems to be the go to rather than say Hayward or Pentair.

I installed it myself so your builder will likely go for Hayward or Pentair which are fine

edit: likely makes sense to stick with one brand for filtering, SWG, etc as it will allow for easier automation

    https://www.discountsaltpool.com/Compare-Saltwater-Chlorine-Generator-Systems-for-Pools

I just remembered another quirk. If the water temp goes below ~55 F, the SWG does not produce chlorine. For us this is maybe 2-3 months of the year when chlorine needs are very low anyway, or you might even close the pool then. I keep some liquid chlorine for these months, as my pool never closes: gotta get those cold plunges in.

Reading all this reminds me why I never installed a pool. I am so glad I just did one of those big above ground pools when my kid was young. When nobody was into it anymore, just took the damn thing down and gave it away.

    I want a pool , don't mind the work.

I want to be able to swim myself, etc, especially as I get older, great exercise

I mainly do work around the house etc for my hobbies, lets me improve my workshop and buy more shit all the time. plus, less humans, no lines, and I like to be at home anyways.

do you have liquid chlorine that doesn't start adding the CYA stuff?

the builder did mention the SWG don't work in the winter as a con of the system. but if its just dumping in some liquid here and there, no big deal

Liquid Chlorine doesn't have CYA. Keep it stored inside, and cool. I try to time my liquid chlorine purchases so that I am not storing much of it at any one tiime. And I have thought that if you are never using solid chlorine through the year, it is likely you could even use pucks during the winter and not have a large change in CYA year over year, but again, that is me guessing,,,

Is that the pump and filter near the wall? If you have as much space as it sounds like you do I'd try to get that equipment out of the yard. It's loud.

ya, I need to figure out where to put that, Im not sure how loud it is, but I told him I dont want it near my bedroom

Dont you want it somewhat close to the pool so there is no long piping runs?

maybe I can have the wall dudes build a little small enclosure or screen wall to reflect the noise not towards the pool?

Lots of people build enclosures/walls/fences to help with the noise. Running it to the other side of the wall will only add a few feet of PVC - shouldn't be a big deal. You'll obviously need electric wherever it ends up.

but that would be off my property? and I dont want to have equipment and maintenance on the other side of the wall and in the actual desert.

maybe Ill talk to the guy and we can move it around away from things a little more and put it in an enclosure.

Ill also see how loud the actual model pumps I would get are, I bet there are differences

good thought though! dont want to be out chilling out and be over run with pump noise.

I must have misunderstood. I thought you had a large lot and the wall was only enclosing a portion of it. If the wall is your property line - that wouldn't work.

ya, at least for now, I was going to wall in a lot of it, that may change as well, but I would have to have another wall around the pumps, etc, dont want to get attacked but snakes, javelinas, or have shit chewing on my stuff without a wall around it.

here maybe this helps, bedroom on the right, family room on the left so really dont want it next to the house.

I could put it all the over to the end, but that is a long ass run.

    that is a pretty design!
we have our equipment on the side of the house, next to the kitchen, you cannot hear it.
a variable speed pump can be run on low and you'll barely hear it. If you build a brick wall/enclosure around it a few feet high (4-5ft) you prob wont hear it.

ok, he said say they use variable speed pumps, but we at the very beginning, so I dont have any specs etc yet, just got the design concept.

    which I like.

I am thinking about what hauler said about the white tile being easier to clean so I may think that one over when we get down the road.

I like how he put one of the lights on the sunshelf, that will glow like a MOFO and look pretty cool, I was thinking I may even want a third light. like swimming in the glowing sun, HA

@Breathing Borla Remember you were asking about local Toyota dealers and we said buy at Precision but service at Desert? This is why you don't buy at Desert, I was dropping off my truck at their service department and snapped these pics of the window sticker for a new Tacoma.
A $6,000 dealer installed lift kit and a bunch of other nonsense. And the lift was, wait for it, a spacer lift.

When I was looking for my last truck (2016 tundra) i stopped at desert. I was looking at a CPO Tundra and they wouldnt tell me a price without me giving a price. I told them a price and they said no. I then looked online and the "online price" for the same truck was lower than I offered. I will not buy anything from them. I found this truck 2024 platinum in phoenix. I will always buy vehicle in phoenix from now on.

I didnt know about the service of the 2 dealers. I always go to Jack Furriers for service. Have been great to me for years.

utilities are turning out to be not too bad.

water is cheap, electric isnt terrible

mine was 450 and thats with no budget pay July-august, so I suspect once I can get budget pay, it will be less than I thought.

its nice to not have natural gas and electric being high

Im barely using any propane, I got it filled right away and its only down 1%, hell that could even be temp differences.

so this house it turning out to be very well built and insulated, with very efficient systems, especially for 2 large heat pumps.

lastly, my homeowners is only 1200 bucks, 1/2 of what it was in IL, so that came out good
