If I could turn back time….

the more I drive this new pro the less I miss the old. It’s really fun to drive. Feels planted and responsive.

I’ve yet to drive it but i hear it’s a completely different animal compared to previous gen or other trims. back seat battery & smaller interior is my only remaining gripes with it now

I love reading everyone talking people into staying with their Toyotas. I have had several diesel rams 2500/3500’s. A few f150’s. A few ram 1500’s. A few hd duramax’s. A few ford superduty’s. A few raptors. In 20-21 I had a 19 tundra limited(lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, lights, winch etc.) The only problem I had with my 19 tundra was I didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. (I had several other vehicles too and bought it for off-road recovery for my towing company). All of my super duty’s had problems(2017 tranny at 130k and my 2020 popped motor at 48k 4 weeks after I bought it), both my raptors(one popped a motor at 28k two weeks after I bought it). I always got rid of the rams because they just started feeling so cheap and worn very fast and I would get a smokin deal on them(drive a lot for 6 months and get rid of it for about what I paid).

so I own a tow company. I have been in business about 6 years. I have towed over 5000 cars. WE NEVER tow Toyota or Honda vehicles. Ever. Unless it was in a wreck.

So after enough issues with cars I said screw it! I over paid for a 22LR TRD PRO. I love it, and I haven’t a had a lick of issues. I bought it last summer with 4k miles on it, paid a few thousand over but knew I would thank myself later. It has 19k miles now and no issues at all(knock on wood)... Reminds me so much of my second gen raptors, and they are an animal tuned(can’t say if it’s mine or someone else’s but holy $#!+ you gotta try it if you have a hybrid).

My run around car is a 24 Honda accord hybrid. And my wife is driving a 22 Honda odyssey elite. I know there is nicer cars out there and I have had a lot more than I listed-but I finally feel content with these cars, knowing they are going to last a long time with basically no surprise expenses. Oh and this hybrid truck starts up in 40 below zero without hesitation. Don’t ask me how I know :101010:

You're the guy with the Lunar Rock rhino lined LX570, right? How's that thing treating you? Are you on the Cruiser forum (ih8mud)?

Someone else started a thread recently about Cruisers and Tundras; there are more of us hanging around here who have one of each than I thought.

Yes that is me! Unfortunately we just traded it in for the Honda odyssey. One car I really didn’t want to get rid of but I have too much stuff to have another vehicle sitting around. That thing did amazing when hell froze over this last winter.. but despite the size, it didn’t not have a lot of space inside with 4 kids. 2 in big car seats. Going anywhere or grocery shopping was not easy. I have a ctsv wagon that I’m going to sell. I’ll get a 90’s cruiser with some of that fund.

The truck I got rid of for this tundra was the ‘20 superduty that popped a motor; last straw was trans started to slip, and I wasn’t abusive to the truck. Wasn’t even tuned.

when I got ride of my 2019 tundra I had 4 vehicles plus all my company trucks. I just needed to downsize a little bit. I also, sold it to one of my employees at a generous price as a reward so I felt good about that. I’ll keep this tundra till they come out with a pug in hybrid. Toyota at least knows their hybrid stuff.
The power in this truck is insane. We expect diesels and HD trucks to tow well. This half ton tows like you would expect a 3/4 ton diesel. The power is amazing.

for fuel mileage I drive my accord hybrid and get 50mpg

I will never understand why people trade in instead of simply sell private other than they possess too much money then they know what to do with. If anyone is going to trade in their 2019 to 2021 pros ill give you 2500 over trade in value cash. I've been in the market to add a second gen next to my first.

I sell some stuff if it’s an easily sale. But if it’s not, I don’t have time to deal with it. I do well enough that my time is worth something too. I’ll shop around get the best figure, post it for a short time and nobody wants to buy it. Trade it. Also, if it’s something that has problems I’d rather a dealer take it and it be their problem. I don’t want someone coming back complaining to me or try to accuse me something.

there’s also the sales tax aspect. If a guy goes in and trades in his low mileage TRD pro and gets what $60k for it…. Now he only has to pay tax on the difference of what he’s buying. So let’s say $75k for a new one.

4% of $60k is $2,400. So essentially that trade in value is actually $62,400. If you sell it for $60k outright now you have to pay all that again in tax. Now look at that in these other states that are 6.5-10%! Now that trade in value is worth an additional $3900-$6000.

now if you can sell outright and quite a bit more yes it’s worth it. But for an $500-$2000. Not worth it.

When I want to sell something of mine, I’ll let you sell it for me. And I’ll give you anything over what I would of got on trade in if it’s sold in a reasonable amount of time.

My best friend just traded in his 21 trd pro for a 24 trd pro at toyota of seattle. It had 21k miles on it. He took 31k for the trade in, no where near 60k. I told him I would have given him 40k cash and was pissed. His truck was listed for $46,999. That's what we call dumb money right there.

Show me you got 60k for your truck and I'll be impressed. Because he only paid 68k for his 2024 trd pro. Your math ain't mathin.

The market has changed a lot in the last 6+ months. That’s how things were looking when I bought my 22 last year.

your buddy got screwed hard, and with no lube. Also, trucks are being discounted which is wild and the fact that they are discounting the TRD Pro’s. But it’ll all balance out soon.
And with what’s going on now with the non turbos recalls, stops sales and dealers not wanting to take them in on trade.. resale value is going to get strong on those 20 & 21 pro’s. As well the hybrids that oddly aren’t having the issue.

He traded it like a month ago. Shoe what you traded your for and how much you paid for the new one. It's probably a 20k difference. So you paid 20k to lease a truck for 2 to 3 years.

Also, a truck like that is quite a bit more affordable than a new one. He could’ve posted that for sale for even $40k and somebody would’ve snapped it up quick. I’m sure it will go fast on that dealer lot.

The salt is most likely in your wound not his. Dude owns lifted cannabis and sells a million in product a month. He can afford it. I guess you can too. I'm looking at a 2021 pro with 38k on auto trader right now. For 42,999.

LOL. I don’t know why you are trying to turn this around on me. I never said I had a 21 that I traded in. I traded in a 2020 ford superduty and was glad to do so.

you said he was pissed that he got 31k when you would’ve given $40k. Man I forgot how fickle some of these forum guys are.

You know what, you are right. LOL

You should see in that search how many were listed as a trd pro they were really just sr5’s with a trd package.
I guess I didn’t even close enough at those

Where do you live? What trim are you looking for? You can get a new TRD PRO for $6k? Off I think was the best I’ve seen. I love searching for deals. Let me know I’ll help you if want it.

Because I thought you were the dumbass OP defending your trade in. You have the same truck in your header that he traded in. Doesn't change the fact that there is zero advantage to trading in that doesn't go straight to the dealer. Have a good one.

Dang. that was a mistake. the AT4 and AT4x are the last remnants of the prior generation trucks... similar to your 2021 you traded in. If I ever sell my at4x aev, it will only be for a 2021 Tundra.
