I have owned 3 Duramax's (2003, 2008, 2011) and didn't have any significant problems with them, however I was glad to sell them when I did. I have been a Toyota guy all my life, starting with the 1985 Toyota X-Cab, solid axle (Back to the Future truck). It was stolen from my driveway one night and I was extremely upset!

I have a 15K 5th wheel that I am selling (new buyer may pickup this week) and I will sell my 2020 RAM 3500 (so far, no problems with it and it gets 18+mpg unloaded on the highway).

I really want another Tundra, however I am a bit hesitant to purchase a Gen 3 right now.

I'd consider F250 7.3 tremor black on black, then slap on a supercharger and 37s, but that won't fit in the garage.

I've driven both. The at4 definitely drives like a truck, the tundra just seems more nimble and I feel like I can toss it around like a car. I chose it because it handles like a Camry. I'm probably biased, after all, I bought the tundra. Whatever your decision, don't look back.

Hey Don. I bought the AT4 with the Duramax and the standard box. Had it for about a week now and I'm happy with it thus far.. Its a very different machine that's for sure, lotsa bells and whistles. Love the 360 camera. To me, it rides more car like than my Tundra and its very quiet inside and out. The Tundra felt more bouncy to me. I need to level the AT4 though, not a big fan of the rake. We'll see how the next two years go. I will still be checking in on the forum because who knows what 2025 will bring!

Congrats Jeremy, Sounds good. Enjoy it. Just curious if you don’t want to post it I understand. Was wondering what they gave you for trade in. I know that all varies what state you are in. I still have not ruled out going back to a 4runner Pro.

I deal with them day in day out as a service parts guy... it all depends on how long you wanna keep this thing. If you only want to keep it within the warranty period / or purchasing extended warranty, by all means go for it. They got their quirks but they are indeed nice rigs.

GM was in second place when I bought my tundra back in 2016. My dad ended up buying a GMC in the spring of 2021 because he couldn't find any Tundras near us that had what he wanted. This past spring less than a year after he bought it, he had to take it to the shop to have the lifters replaced. It was in the shop for a month. It was fixed under warranty, but he was without a car for a month because they didn't have any loaners to give out because there were so many trucks getting fixed at the same time. I have 2 friends that drive gm's that have both had to have the transmissions replaced before 60,000 miles. I like the GM's they seem like nice trucks, but I am gun shy on them right now due to the experiences of family and friends. To be honest, I'm not in any hurry to buy a new Tundra either until they prove they have some stuff figured out on them. I only have 100,000 miles on my tundra so I'm not in any hurry to buy anything at this time.

That's because you're not thinking correctly. You need to think like this:

"I had almost paid my truck off, but I just decided it was time to trade it in and tie myself to another $70k vehicle that the bank owns. It's not a big deal; my dealer told me that my monthly payment will hardly go up at all. Also, I just don't trust the old truck. I'd hate to have to replace an alternator or something. Those can cost a lot. Like $500 or something. Yeah, better keep a $1000/mo payment so I don't have to worry about maintenance or repair costs." :D

I don’t think price paid and trade value should be kept a secret. The auto industry is too much smoke and mirrors and there is no loyalty in that business anymore. I wish the info was more accessible and everyday people could make the best deals. I got 52k on the trade. We all know what the sticker on these trucks was. I drove the shit out of that pro for 2 years…it’s a numbers game, you do the math.

I knew I wasn't thinking right. I've always thought, I'm gonna buy a Toyota so I can have a good reliable truck for 10+ years and not have to replace it every 2 years. My wife on the other hand thinks the other way.

I went and drove a zr2 and a TRD pro this last week. First time I’ve been able to see a Pro that wasn’t already sold and get to sit in one. My heart has been set on new 23 TRD Pro other than I’m not sold on the colors. Wanted Lunar Rock again and missed out. Love my 21 LR. That said the new screen is NICE. Love it. But the interior felt cheap(er) to me. It felt newer but not better than my 21 which is disappointing considering the $20k upcharge. The biggest issue I had was that all the windows felt squished. The rear window felt half the size of my 21. The windshield seemed like I was squinting compared to my 21. The field of view just seems cut short. I like the truck a lot but just left somewhat underwhelmed compared to expectations.

I cannot believe what I am saying but I sorta loved the zr2. Again, maybe it was an expectation thing as I haven’t like a GM truck since the avalanche. My father-in-law is a former employee and it’s always been a thing with me as I have always been underwhelmed with their interiors. It’s my favorite on the market I think from the trucks. I really liked the two-tone interior color scheme. Felt like an off-road truck. It still needs bigger tires but so did the TRD pro. I was impressed.
