What’s limited about a ‘21 Pro in LR other than the color (only 2.5 to ever have that paint) ? What reasons are there that a ‘21 Pro will be worth keeping over say a ‘21 1794 or a 2018 Pro? Not trying to be a smartass here - just asking for a bit more of an explanation - same as my post to the OP - when stating something is “better” or “worse” - give us a reason how you arrived at that opinion.

Don’t disagree there are plenty of positives - mainly in the proven reliability of the drivetrain of a 2.5 - but expecting it to become a collector item because of its color to me is a bit of a long shot. I really don’t see the market as a whole paying a premium in 3 years for LR vs any other paint color.

Really anything you “gain” in a ‘21 Pro can be replicated (at a cost) on any other trim level. The fact that a suspension is “factory” vs “aftermarket” for example doesn’t move the needle for most people much. As a everyday truck buyer would I pay half of what it cost someone to swap a Pro suspension setup onto a ‘21 Limited today if offered for resale - likely not. I also wouldn’t pay less - and I probably would view this as an “upgrade” having driven both. To me paint is a very similar situation- if I like the color - I’d be more drawn to it and would make it my preferred purchase - but when it comes at any significant added cost - I’d go with the lower cost option.

Go for it. It's your money AND you'll be in another truck in 2-3 years anyways so enjoy.

You have a highly sought after Tundra and it’s new, I would keep it.

I bought a new 2013 in 2013 AFTER the 2.5 gens were on the lot bc I like having the last or 2nd to last year of a models generation.

I bought a new gmc 2020 Yukon XL in 2020 when I knew a remodel was coming in 2022.

it’s nice to have new things, but at some point I want to own a vehicle for like 20 years that works and performs well. I don’t want to constantly chase the next automotive “feature”

Hey OP, if I could be a "new truck every 3 years" guy I would also try various models and enjoy the shiny new toys. I hope you have zero issues with the AT4 and post some pics for those of us who never see the inside of many new trucks. I would love to see some of the gadgets and cool stuff GM has going. Enjoy!

Whatever this forum told me to do
We have had all 4 truck makes here at the warehouse.

anything under 5 years, and all trucks are the same.

our Fiat trucks (RAM) were the most troublesome.

    GM - meh

Ford - we still use these.

Toyota - still drive one. not good for HD work. but I don't do HD work, so there's that.

I would never buy GM after what they did to the GM bondholders during the bailout. NEVER. EVER.

What if instead of purchasing increasingly more complicated, rapidly depreciating assets that literally track and record your every move and sell a marketing profile to 3rd parties, you just decide to flip double birds at the current market of smartphones on wheels? Driving a vehicle that doesn't need to be replaced every 3-5 years because it lacks the planned obsolescence of brand new designs frees you from that endless cycle of being inticed by new features, liking your new vehicle until the shine wears off, having a problem or two that encourages you to trade it in, and starting the process all over again. IMO, the industry has carefully curated your thinking to keep you in this cycle.

Speaking of the shine wearing off, your '21 Tundra has already off-gassed all the chemicals in the interior...you should stay in your current vehicle for the simple reason that the "new car smell" people seem to love is actually pretty toxic and is not a good idea for you to be breathing in for several weeks every two to three years. A study in 2019 found that VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that contribute to that new car smell cause issues such as headaches, shortness of breath, throat irritation, and increased risks of cancer. Keep your current truck because science. Lol. :notsure:

Yes. Exactly - only 2.5 Gen Tundra in LR ever and I believe less than 2,000 units were produced in the US so that makes it a limited run (in my mind anyway) and it seems unique runs like that end up being more desirable to folks down the road… in addition, a Pro is a Pro is a Pro and you can’t get anything aftermarket to state that on your DMV registration so resale on a Pro has always remained higher than a modified truck to make it look like a Pro.

More reason to keep it since you drive a lot. Look at those other trucks on the road and wonder if they can keep pace with your maintenance free truck.

If I bought a new truck every 2-3 years I would buy a Dodge Ram Power Wagon. Half the reason to buy a Toyota is the reliability and resale even at 10-12 years old.

If you buy every 2-3 years the only draw Toyota has is value retention. Barring that, you'll be under warranty for any vehicle so buy what you like and enjoy. The big convincing factor for Tundras (prior to 2022) was that you'd have a relatively trouble free truck for a decade or more. If you don't keep vehicles that long then there's definitely more advanced brands with more bells and whistles.

I will echo what others have mentioned. OP, if your swapping out rigs every few years then reliability shouldn't be a concern, get what you like, and guess what...if you do not enjoy it swap it out sooner being that coin is not the issue. I know a few car whores, and they lease new vehicles every 3-4 years, if things go wrong with the vehicle they do not loose sleep over it because they always get a loaner. Me personally I am keeping my Tundra, adding a Lexus GX to the family to replace my 12YO Subaru, maybe a Taco for the wife, and keeping them till I die.

At those types of miles, do you even need a 1/2 ton for daily? I'm a firm believer in having a 'miles car' and a utility vehicle. Until we get out of the transitional state of ICE --> electric, I'd stick with the 3UR-FE and add a sedan/coupe/whatever does it for you.

If you need convincing then your should move to domestic trucks. Give it a few years and you'll be back, however, you probably wont have access to a Japanese NA V8 engine again.

I was recently in a 3500 Denali and thought the interior felt cheap AF. Maybe The 1000 onboard cameras are supposed to impress people? Hopefully the 1/2 tons are better?

My buddy is on his second GMC, one an SLT, newest a Denali in the time I have had my 2017 TRD PRO in Cement. Drives him crazy that my truck rides sounds and handles better than his gizmo'd up GMC's....

That said, if I were to move off my Gen2.5, it would only be to an F250/350 Tremor, and MAYBE the AT4.

If you are in and out of vehicles, every 2-3 years, what does it matter? Buy what you want under warranty and enjoy, move one, rinse and repeat....... Me? I'll drive my unicorn perfect truck (for me) till they pry my drivers license out of my arthritic cold dead fingers........... ;-)

If you don't feel the love, then move on from it.

I usually get a new vehicle once every 1-2 years, I'm keeping this one since there's just so many things to tinker with.

oh, maybe look at the Ram 1500, I love their new digital dash, its probably the better one out of all 4 (GM, Ford, Ram, Toyota) , I've had good luck with Rams in the past.

I have owned two Duramaxes (used to tow quite a bit) and put 10s of thousands into keeping them on the road fixing things as they broke. Back in those days Toyota was teasing a Tundra diesel and I prayed to the truck god's to make it so. When I retired from racing and didn't have to tow anymore I sold my last Duramax so fast your head would spin. On my second TRD Pro now and could not be happier. I will never buy another Chevy / GMC truck ever again.
