yea, that's the geometry. 65* head tube and a 13.75" bb. dump the fox can in the back and go with a cane creek dbcoil IL. ripper for sure.

Lots of good advise but be honest with yourself with what you will be riding/doing with the bike. I would never recommend a 160mm bike for all around fun unless you are riding park or grind out fire roads just to bomb back down the gnar all the time. My .02

in our neck of the woods, i would be hard pressed to ride anything less than 5". 6" works out great for our terrain. they aren't called the rocky mountains without reason.

I understand...I ride out there plenty as my old man lives in Evergreen. I still stand by my recommendation. Unless you are a masochist I would never suggest that much bike for someone looking for an "all around fun bike" who "always like a good XC bike". To each their own...as long as you are riding it's all good brother.

I'm on a Giant Trance SX, Cane Creek IL Coil rear, Cane Creek Helm Coil front. 5.5"R, 6"F. Been on this bike since 2014 and have zero reasons to ride anything else. I don't think 6" travel is overkill for anything, it's all in the suspension quality and geometry. My good buddy has a Knolly Endorphin that is more of a bear to pedal on all day XC rides than my Trance, by the numbers they're basically the same bike.

I will do anything and everything with my Trance. The suspension damping/quality is so good now that 6" of travel is not bad to pedal all day.

if we were not in the city and some place where there was enough snow in the winter to justify it, i'd be all over one of those.

    sb5 or 6?

mine is an older sb6c, 26" wheels, and it's a freaking rocket. i get to my personal limit before the bike ever reaches its limit. so much fun to ride.

next time you have that thing out here, give a shout.

It's the new SB130...and just like you said, the silly thing is light years beyond my 40yo bodys ability but it is an absolute riot to ride. I am clearing obstacles and hitting jumps and drops that I had never before attempted because it's so capable.

"next time you have that thing out here, give a shout"
Careful....I might take you up on that. Hopefully by July I can get back out there. :fingerscrossed:

I have always been intrigued by fat bikes...I will have to pull the trigger one fall to help me get out more in the winter around here. They always look so fun!

    Baller blood in here. :D

Then again, I’ll drop 10k on a MX bike no problem.

    Did someone say Firebird? ;)

My coworker and I both ride Birds. We are both ex motocrossers. MTBs are the next best thing.

Both the Firebirds all nice and dirty:

    My Bird:

My wife's Mach 6. It is upforked to 170mm Fox 36 Grip2 and has the Float X2 rear shock, so we refer to it as the "Mini-bird".

Sick! Pivot is completely out the red one when I ordered mine last week. I went with the X01 build.

What handlebars do you have on those. I’m looking for a high rise and can’t decide

I'm currently running Deity Black Label 25mm rise bars. My wife's bike has the Spank Vibracore bars. My next set of bars will probably be the Vibracores. They do help with hand fatigue and arm pump.

I only enjoy downhill...and being in Texas, it means I have to climb a shit ton to enjoy 1 minute of downhill. I kind of knew that when I got it.
However, we just got out first lift operated downhill park and it’s time to dust this bad boy off.
