We are on the eve of the moon landing 50 years ago.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I just don't see this being possible.
I grew up in the time of the Space Shuttle program, and with what I know about the technology that the Shuttle had, I just can't comprehend that the technology of the 1960's would be nearly the same that would get people on the moon in that age and time.

    What are your thoughts?

It happened, and it happened more than once.
Technology of the day was over engineered, heavy duty brute force.

Lots of scientific proof that it did happen multiple times and no proof otherwise.

What would be the reason to fake a moon landing? Just worldwide bragging rights?

Simple test if we went. If we had not the Soviets would have know because of the radio transmissions would have been coming from earth. The Soviets would have know it and call us out on it.
This is one of the reasons I've said all along one of the most tragic things of history is we have not returned since the initial missions. If it were routine today there would be no doubt.

I was just at the Craters of The Moon park on a road trip and i will say its pretty strange the similarities in landscape from the photos ive seen of the Moon landing.
I will also say that it was hot as balls at the park , and would have gone to the moon to cool down a bit.

I remember well those landings, I was in the 1st grade. No one then was doubting it. Took literally 100s, of thousands of people working globally to make it work. We couldn't keep the SR71 secret back then, how would something like faking the moon landing be kept secret?

I'm wondering what technology do you think would have been impossible back then?

The rockets and fuel, enough to go and back. Just conquering the distance would take an immense amount.

You'd still need enough to get off the moon to get into orbit to coast back

    Lost track after #1.
It absolutely happened and multiple times. We keep the moon rocks and samples in a special containers so as not to contaminate them. There are also remnants and scientific tools that were put on the surface that we still use today.

Nope...but it was all ego and patriotism fueling that. Imaging what we could accomplish if politics where out of the way. Joint efforts we'd be on Mars by now.

That's were nazi engineers came into play with their rockets after wwii. They were years ahead of us and we used them and their technology to advance our rockets after wwii.

At this point , I think private sector ambitions for profit will fuel space exploration.

Give nasa the defense budget instead of cutting funding. Then you'd see tons of advancement.

I would say the Air Force and NASA are damn near the same thing. Plus Lockheed /Northrup/Ratheon are all in bed with NASA/ Uncle Sugar. Its all a name game at a certain point.

Damn near but not. It's why astronauts are AF or navy pilots. But it's why each has its separate budget. Maybe some overlap...but I highly doubt NASA space exploration gets anything to do with military budget.

Possibly. There are many mutual benefits for both sides of that coin , though. Why not hide a space program inside a Military spending package , and not have to tell the tax payers?
    And Vice Versa ...
