Well, that's one way to use the new recovery points.

I’ve used the front to drag a tree out of the road about 3 days after I got it home, and used the rear to hang the pig with, so far so good! Need to post a pic now that I’ve done some trimming behind the front bumper and painted everything behind it black so it blends better.

Got my Smittybilt X20 12k winch installed today, very happy to finally have a winch. My last outing was cut short by a 8” rear diff exploding in a GX470 and I wasn’t able to help much in the recovery due to not having a winch yet... so the following week I ordered one.
Didn’t get many pics from this trip but had a great time and I’m extremely impressed with my new bumpers. Only hit the front twice and didn’t hit the rear a single time which is a big first for me lol. Don’t think many people can say they wheeled for a weekend then towed a GX home 3hrs away :benchpress:

Besides doing normal stuff like brakes I probably won’t be doing too much to my truck for a bit. Starting to build an off-road trailer now to make trips easier on the family (5 plus a dog every now and then) and to be able to do long trips with our FJ also.

Something I’ve come to realize with my high clearance bumper is that there was a gap underneath the tailgate that the bumper used to block and water and dirt was getting into my bed thru it. So I found some gasket material on Amazon and sealed it up nicely yesterday. Also resealed my camper so hopefully my water issues are done for and I can move on to finally replacing my dented tailgate...

Installed 4” lift spindles on the trailer and finished bolting in the crossmember for the Timbren Suspension before taking it to Trail Toys for Nathan to work his magic on it. It’s going to have a roll n lock hitch, fully enclosed cargo area with a lid that is hinged in the middle with space on the front half to hold jerry cans and such. Also will have a drop down tailgate and swingout for the full size spare, and have a spot on the tongue to put a ice chest and probably a few odds and ends. We bought a 23Zero Sydney RTT to mount on top so we can camp in comfort finally. It’s also on 37s :D

Trailer has been done for a while now and has been on a couple of small trips. Ended up having to swap the Timbren 2500lb suspension out for Timbren 3500HD. Trailer weighs about 2500lbs loaded and was having camber issues because of it.

I also finally installed the Super Pro LCA poly bushings, really firmed things up in the front but haven’t been able to test it offroad yet. Here in the near future I’m having my LCA mounts reinforced and I’m going to a solid non adjustable mount and heimed uppers since I’ve beat my LCA mounts to a pulp including breaking a weld on my TC cam tab gussets. And last week ordered front and rear ARB lockers and 5.29s! Hopefully will have everything done sooner than later and once things calm down I can go test it all out.
Roasted my Auburn LSD on my last trip, 80k miles is all I got out of it, while it did a good job when it worked, I’d recommend going to a true locker first before buying another wear item.

I was stuck several different ways, Tundra was just too wide to thread that needle and got stuck and with a toast LSD I couldn’t get out. I’ll never hear the end of it with the 4runner owner now lol

Most of the suspension is off and the diffs are out having the new gears and lockers thrown in. Also gonna be installing Solid Off-road poly engine mounts, new oem alternator, new oem cv axles, ARB twin compressor, Victory 4x4 compressor mount, diff and gas skid, Bud Built for the rest of the skids, Icon delta joint heimed uppers, new oem spindles and TC spindle gussets, and some small things here and there. But gonna be a whole new truck once she’s back together.

Late night photo dump from the last year basically. Love the truck on 37s and locked but man she’s a pig now at 7300lbs setup for normal driving. Need to look into some better brakes and either a solid tune or a supercharger to get my balls back. Still not the worst though, especially considering she has 235k on the clock now. Took her up to SLC last October and had a blast, hit Medano Pass in Colorado on the way up and sucked water into my 4wd actuator so that was the only trail we were able to do. Took a few local trips also resulting in a busted tail light, blown side wall and the hardest slam on my passenger slider I’ve ever heard/felt. Hit hard enough to bend my slider into the cab and for the door to hit it until I straightened it out, also bent my victory gas tank skid in the process. Next trip after that got stupid and jumped my truck again and blew my original steering rack, luckily a good friend let me borrow his Tundra to get my shitbox home and repaired. She’s back in one piece and driving again, preparing for another trip to Colorado in October, mild wheeling but mostly just to camp and get out of the Texas heat for a bit.
