Nope. But I've been doing that for years with Amsoil. I change the filter only at 6 months.

Mobil1 Extended Performance is rated for 15,000 miles. I've been changing oil once a year for several years now.

I'll never go more than 5k on an oil change. Treat your engine good, and it'll treat you good.

My last couple of vehicles I sold well south side of 100k. Always done Mobil 1 and changed oil at 10k or 1 Year (whichever first). Even sent it in for analysis a few times, and it always came back clean.

The days of high tolerances and 100k planned obsolescence, are long past.

I like the idea but I'd hate to be the guy that the failure happens to when/if engine failure happens. My plans for either a high compression ITB steup, built bottom end with S/C or turbo system wont run the same oil past 3k. I'd like to see what happens once someone develops a turbo kit for the Tundra (@MAD ) and tries to run 1yr old oil in it. Oil fed compressor's that is....

Well peace of mind has value too, mine is just less expensive. I have a Vette which has an on-board oil monitoring system, which tracks such thing as operating temperatures, torque usage, change date, etc. Factory requires Full synthetic, and that monitor would keep on chugging happily along to 15k, if I would let it. (which I don't)

15k oil change is crazy. I have been a tech for 23 years, the last few years been seeing more and more vehicles come in that need engines for various reasons. Engines are way more intricate now with variable timing components and crazy long timing chains. I change my oil every 5k with Mobil 1 and OEM filter. Cheap insurance.

For a fuller disclosure, even though I do change the oil once a year, that amounts to around 3000 miles. If I were driving regular amount, I would feel less comfortable letting it go for a year or 15,000 miles. Mine is 2010 and recently broke 19,000 miles. I've had 5 oil changes with conventional oil and 4 changes with full synthetic Mobil1 so far. I know for my use, Mobil1 Extended Performance is an overkill, but I do feel more comfortable with an overkill.

I have been doing once a year oil changes on the Amsoil full synthetic good for 25K and change the filter at 6 months. Been doing it on all my vehicles.
Tundra has 92k, Toyota pickup has 215K, xterra has 175K, Jetta has 165k and my old Jeep(sold) had 155k with no engine issues.
My TDI I change at 15K because that is what the oil recommends and its diesel.
My boat gets changed once a year too - but doesn't see many hours.

Forgot to mention that none of my vehicles see more than 20K a year, so i would say i change them once a year and about 15k max.

Agreed. I do every 5k with Royal Purple.

Also the air intake filter and MAF sensor every 10k.

I do the full year on Amsoil. Have done it with every vehicle I've owned since 1976. US made GM products, VWs and Toyotas. Just sold my 1990 1 ton Jeep Comanche with 265K on it. Clean as a whistle, compression like when it was new. Maintained it myself for 26 years. Pulled my 4500# boat with it 500 miles round trip 6 times/year. I keep all my vehicles a long time. I would not do it with Mobil 1.

I noticed that oil on the shelf.
Honestly, IMO, it seems like a bad joke. I mean driving conditions are the most important factor when determining oil change intervals.
I plan on running my truck until it dies (Hopefully, 300,000+ Miles). I just recently purchased the truck and have put 15k miles on it.
I change the oil with Mobile1 Full Synthetic 5W-20 every 7500 miles. I have been considering going up to 5W-30 as 20 weight is almost soupy and it seems gas mileage laws are the only reason that the motor's recommended viscosity is 20 weight.
In China and Australia, the Tundras and Landcruisers with the same motor recommend 5w-30.

I disagree. You'll need to change your oil after several months of cold start, short trip, stop-and-go conditions with 1000 miles on the odo, while someone else who put 10000 highway miles in a year is likely to not need it changed but once. Mileage matters little. It's the driving conditions that matter most.

I agree with your point. I remember hearing about GM running a corvette for 100,000 Miles on the same oil with no motor damage. They explained the concept and why it worked, but I do not feel like getting into that.

Get the oil analyses. That is the ONLY thing that will convince me one way or another. There are too many factors. Some are mentioned above.

I have a solution, change your oil when you want and if you jack your truck up in the process on driving for a year, tell us, so we know what NOT TO DO.
