Directions: Approximately 6.5 miles north of Ward, Colorado, on Colorado Highway 72, watch for signs for Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick Campgrounds. Turn west onto Middle Saint Vrain Road (County Road 92 and National Forest System Road 114) and proceed approximately one mile to the west end of Camp Dick.

Here is the dreaded "Gatekeeper" obstacle.

Nice camping spot out of the way of everyone. No one in yelling distance. Nice and quite. Right next to middle st vrain creek. The sound of water was soothing especially at the camp fire with a beer.

Got some trail damage along the way.

@csuviper Did you have to get a permit to camp there? Or are the permits only for the campground? This looks like a fun trail. I need to do my rear diff breather mod and then get out there next weekend.

Camp Dick costs $19 per night. That is the campground with designated spots. Most of the time fully reserved thought out the summer.
On the trail it is free camping, no permit needed. Find a good spot and set up camp. There is a section toward the beginning of the trail that says no camping however.

When I was looking at the link I saw that it said something about a camp permit and I was confused. Always thought camping in the forest was free. Looks like you had a great time. Did you let your son spot or drive? :mudding:

Yep. I know where that is. Actually backpacked from Camp Dick to Red Deer Lake and spent a couple of nights up there. Very pretty place indeed.

Nice area. Great pics. I was wondering about those rear leds. They are kind of tough. Time for touch up paint. :mudding:

That's a fun little run. Haven't been up there in awhile. Pole Hill up near Estes is another good one. Can't wait to get back out on the trail.
