Tire pressure, how low can you go?

Call me a chicken sh*t, but how low air pressure has anybody successfully gone down to without popping the bead off a stock 18" rim's? talking about mud, snow, rock crawling, off the tarmac stuff? I've run 15PSI and it was hardly visually noticeable, my tires 275/70R18 (non- bead lockers) looks like i could go allot lower...?

When we get snow and the road conditions are crap I will usually run about 10 PSI around town until conditions improve.
At 10 PSI you can see that the tires are a bit flat. (I'm also running 275/70R18 on stock rims)

I ran at 15psi for an entire week in OBX last fall

Did not fill them back up till we were going off the island

They were boss on the beaches & fine everywhere else

They've also been great in this snow

Anyone still watching this thread and have long term reviews?
I'm about 99% sure I'm going Baja Boss AT for my next set of shoes just curious is anyone has an opinion 20-30 k miles in

I'm notoriously hard on tires and prob average 30k miles before they are trash off road. Sell on CL for a bit of $ abd and then dump a boat load on a new set

Im currently running Yoko Geo MT and they are sooo loud and torn up from rocks (pretty much trash at this point)

Don't know if this qualifies as LT but I'll chime in ... had them on a little over a year so 15k ish ... have not noticed any increase in noise ... performance on highway on trail in rain on sand on dirt has been the best ive ever had

I've been on some decent road trips on the beach & on trails they've been A+ ... I'll air down to 15 for entire trips & have not had a problem puttering around until ready to leave

They seem so dam sturdy to me if they makes sense ... maybe that's the load rating???

Unless somethin "bad" happens or I decide to not keep the agressive look I'll prob re-up when the time comes but as of today I am a Mickey lover

    Hope this helps!

@Tboh1870 thanks for your feedback! Have the issues when they first came out about balancing isssues been resolved on more current batches? Besides that, I’ve read nothing but good things about these tires. I’m debating between these and toy at3s that everyone swears about.

I read all of that too & decided I was going to go the thinner route w the 255s ... the tire shop I use said they balanced perfectly fine & I haven't had any issues yet

I love them because the hwy-daily performance has been perfect ... the beach trails stuff has never been a worry bc they're mickeys but the performance on the hwy in the rain was great ... maybe bc they're still new?

I'm really anxious to see how long they last & if it's decent I'm prob using these from now on

Toyo is a great tire ... I had a set on my 20s that I just sold but I couldn't find them in a thin(ner) tire

I'm interested in getting the Baja Boss ATs in either 295/70r18 or 35x12.5r18 as i want the larger size but am concerned about the potential balancing issues.

The only two other options are Toyo AT3 and the new Falken a/t4w (which may also have balancing issues), but concerned the toyos may be too loud? but again, its not a daily driver but may take occasional trips in the truck from Los Angeles to San Diego with the family.

I am not sure what the balancing “issue” is actually. On MT’s website they provide the maximum weight to balance their tire and if it takes more (when new) then the tire can be warrantied and get another. I had one out of 5 that took more weight than specified and they ordered another and I picked it up the next day. I took all 5 since they were in the truck while we were discussing the expensive tire with more than warrantied. Forget the amount but it was obviously noticeable.

If they balance when new, then the maintenance is usually the only thing that would cause issues or a belt shift, heavy off roading where lugs are removed, etc.

Wow, I just a set of these on a 3rd gen Tundra around town.
People are right, the photos of these do not even begin to do them justice, they are by far the most aggressive looking AT I have ever seen. They look more aggressive than the hybrid RT tires I've seen in person too!
I ran a set of MT Baja ATZ (hybrid) And I didn't remember those being this awesome looking.
These will be my next set of tires for sure. I'm gonna run my set of worn out Yokos until fall and then getting a set of the Baja Boss ATs!

Thanks! I probably should just get my tires from a big tire chain instead of my offroad shop, they seem to make it easier to make claims on bad tires

Yeah, reason I always buy from Discount Tire. Plus their price match. They are great at getting custom orders too.
Gotta double check their work though. I've found loose lugs a few times

After we start getting some consistent rain up here, let us know how they do in 'heavy' rain

My guess is that they'd perform quite well. That's probably the direction I'm going when my current set wears out...

I just drove down from Seattle to Oregon City this evening in pouring rain for 90+ min. Lots of pools of water these things didn't even flinch.
Grip crazy good on wet roads.
2 mpg improvement over my worn out Yoko Mud Terrains too. Which for me means 8-9 to 11-12
Anything helps with this hungry beast

I bought them a bit earlier than needed, to get the $150 rebate they have going. I have a big trip coming up and I wanted to get a few weeks with them first before the trip.

Way too soon review is they are awesome!
