My mechanic put his stock tires and wheels (Tundra) on my truck and said it ran "like glass".

After this last encounter where they replaced one of them, it really is riding smooth.

To be fair, these really are brand new tires for Mickey Thompson. You're gonna have bugs and fixes on any first time venture (see 2022 Tundra)

Yep. I’m leaning toward the Nitto Recon Grappler which is a newer tire and not as many reviews yet but I like the lighter 60lb tire weight… Damn Michelins only weigh 40lbs or something so I guess its a big weight addition no matter which AT tire you go with?

Fair enough. Just curious though, how many complaints did you hear about these tires?

Any tires your looking into, just Google "ABC tire balancing issues" and you'll get more results than you want to read.

How long and how many complaints are needed? These tires have been out since mid-2021 (I think).

I'm not a fan of companies the go-to-market quickly without adequate testing...and end up passing testing onto the consumer.

The Tundra has a lot of moving parts so I'll give Toyota a pass :) ... We're talking tires here.

Nope, just released mid-January. Trust me I have every right to be pissy about em as I had to balance them multiple times and spent money on a mechanic to help diagnose.

They're made in America and they're a brand new line of tire. I'll wait and put some miles on em before I render judgment

    Mid-January as in last month?...no.

EDIT: TrailBuilt Off-Road has a bunch of YT videos back into last year on these tires. I like the fact that they are USA made too but here we are with this discussion.

I've had mine since august 2021 (and about 3k on them.. maybe more, maybe less). 295/70r18. no balancing issues. Truck rides better than previous (OEM coilovers had 100k on them, replaced with Fox 2.0s)

Yes, they're heavy. I'm used to it.

I'm not sure three guys discussing balance on here is much to base opinions on. These are much smoother than my Nitto Ridge Grapplers were, both in comfort and noise.

If faced with buying tires again tomorrow, I'd pick these again.

THere's also the question of how these balance issues are being evaluated/reported. Not balancing on the machine or vibration while driving. The latter may not be a tire issue.

My bad. Only certain sizes came out in January. Still a very new tire.

Bingo. My tire shop threw a chunk of weight in one spot on the outer perimeter.

5k update. Tires still look new. Rotated around 3.5k miles, no shake or radial pull after rotating. We went to TN this weekend, so I got to drive in snow and ice, and we hit an offroad trail that had mud holes and light rock crawling. I'm still extremely happy with these tires. They performed great in all the situations I've been in so far. Here's some flex shots 20220312_153844.jpg 20220312_153919.jpg 20220312_153939.jpg

My $.02, so I was a literal first run adopter of these tires. I pre-ordered them through my local Americas Tire, waited a month and then got them I believe in April or May of 21. So its safe to say I had the early run and suppose if that was a concern I'd be eligible to claim any issues Ive had could be due to getting a new product.

Thing is, I personally have had none. They balanced perfectly, took a whole 45 mins at the shop to balance and mount. I ended up losing a weight when one of the Toyota techs knocked it off during routine maintenance and only found it because I heard it rattling in the wheel when I left the dealer. Despite that I still havent noticed any shimmies or shakes.

I do plan to take these tires off the truck, but only because I want a slightly smaller diameter tire and lighter tire as I spend pretty much all my time on road and havent gone on any trails in almost a year now.

Theyre heavy, a con for sure. Thats about it for cons on my list though.

Theyre pretty much the most aggressive tire Ive had that has been pretty much as loud as the stock tire on the highway. They track well, they never had traction issues in the snow this last year. Dunno, I know there are bad batches and a lot of these things are subjective. So, not discrediting anyone else. Just hoping that if anyone really wants them, don't hesitate because it's typically the displeased people that make threads. For those that are displeased, that really sucks, I feel bad for them because for me they've been great. But, I understand, we have to do right by ourselves.

I contributed earlier and feel a bit guilty so I'm back... I had to ditch the tires. I visited Discount Tire 6 times to try and get these tires balanced and was never successful. I tried two different locations with no luck. They were extremely helpful and ordered a 5th to replace the worst of the bunch, but the replacement had issues as well. At some point, they even put the one that was initially flagged as defective back on the truck since its numbers were better than another. Maybe it could have been fixed with more effort, but I didn't have the time to play with it anymore.

Beautiful tire, handled snow masterfully, but I couldn't get past the steering wheel shake over 50.

Any new updates on the MT Baja Boss AT? I'm about to pull the trigger on a set. I'm coming from 295/70R18 Toyo Open Country AT3. They been fantastic tires but like to tried something more aggressive while still in the all terrain and 3PMSF. Appreciate it.

You’ll probably want to re-gear with how heavy they are. (Not kidding).

I had them on my 14 DC. Loved them with looks and performance. Great in rain snow and quiet on dry pavement. I never had balancing problems with mine , but boy are they HEAVY.

No need to re-gear. Sure they are heavier than others, but the Tundra handles them just fine.

The weight was the only concern. I'm thinking I may even go a size smaller at 285/65R18. Biggest thing is I tow a lot of toys year round (nothing crazy heavy) and being in Montana our state is HUGE! I avg 25-30k a year. The extra thread and 3ply side wall was a big selling point, beside for being 3PMSF and looking sweet! Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm only going on 60 days with mine but I have zero complaints. Balancing was not an issue at Mountain Yotas here in Denver. And they have handled really well in the snow.

Had mine for about 10-11 months.

Amazing in any condition. Especially snow. Drove home from Stowe Resort in Vermont to NJ in a blizzard and they were fantastic. Blizzard was worst I ever drove in. I was looking for a rest stop to pull over into and wait it out it was that bad.

Back end lost some traction in other snow conditions, a few times but I don’t keep any weight in the bed, so I chalk it up to that. No slippage on any boat ramps when I launched my boat this past summer neither. No real mud driving done so can’t comment. Used in sand 1 time and they were great after airing down.

They are very heavy but I re-geared to 5.29s in June so no issues there.

Not loud to me but I do have a dirty deeds exhaust and keep my radio volume on the louder side.

First set I couldn’t get the front 2 balanced/aligned. Took them to 3 different places in the first month. Finally started a claim and Mickey Thompson warrantied it for 80% since I put 2k miles on them. Was a pretty easy process since I kept receipts.

I rotate them every oil change and have been wearing evenly after I got the 2 new ones.

No complaints besides being heavy. If I had to pick new tires today I’d probably stick with them… part of me wants to try Toyo open country at 3’s next but that’s just try something new.

Sorry for the late reply, been really busy finishing up some projects.

I've had these tires for 20k miles now and keep them set at 40psi. And so far I'm incredibly happy. They're so much better than my previous set of falken wildpeaks.

On road: Very quiet for such an aggressive tire, even after 20k miles. Pretty grippy in the rain, some tire spin here and there on take off when it's wet, but thats usually my fault. I can't comment on cornering since my truck doesn't have swaybars and handles like a boat around corners.

Off road: Since moving to the mountains of East TN, I'm surrounded by tons of good off road trails now. And this is where these tires really shine. They dominate the trails. All of my trail buddies now call my tundra "The Mountain Goat". I have lost a couple small chunks of rubber on some rocks, but nothing bad.

Sand: I went to alot of sandy rivers through MS/LA, I aired down and never had a hiccup. Although they have a pretty aggressive tread pattern for sand.

Snow: Drove in it a couple times, but not enough to make any real comments on the performance.

I am looking into possibly adding these to my new SCS wheels in the spring. I like the look of them. Had Mickey’s years ago on my Tacoma and liked them.

I've had mine now for a little over a month. I have had a small issue with balancing. I think it was more the fact that the tire place I had install them was so slammed with early winter customers that the techs just didn't do a thorough job. I just brought them back to get re-balanced and they are much better. I was getting a lot of steering wobble, especially at high speeds. I got them just after our first significant snow. The worn out Geolanders that were on there were dangerous in the snow. This tire has not disappointed. Absolutely no doubts in their capabilities. The only downside is the hit I took to MPG. I went up a size to 275/70/18. I am on stock everything else. I plan to get a lift eventually, but the tires couldn't wait. And they look sexy as hell! (You wouldn't know it, but I took this pic right after washing it!)

Hey Aaron, When you say you took a hit in gas mileage what are you getting. I know these are much heavier tire. I have 285/70/18’s and average 14–16 mpg.
