So I came across a good amount of stainless steel mesh like in the picture. Thinking of making a grill out of some of it

Anybody ever seen one with round perforated metal?

When I had my Taco I made my own upper and lower. Added 3/8" Stainless Steel hardware. And powder coated semi gloss black aluminum grills.

Oh crap! Ummm short answer no. But I can guide you through some steps.

1)But a cheap aftermarket grill, trust me I was scared at cutting up my oem grill.
2)Get a large piece of construction paper and wrap it over the sacrificial grill to gain a flat pattern of the intended area to cut/create your grill.
3)Cut paper and fit into grill.
4)Once desired fit is achieved cut sacrificial grill and fit paper flat pattern inside.
5)Cut desired metal with said flat pattern.

In mine, I made a two piece design. A 1" boarded around the perimeter. That will hide the rough edges of the perforated material. So basically you need twice the amount of material per size of grill. The outer trim was made out of the same sheet metal aluminum. The perforated material was punched in a Amada punch press to my desired hole size and spacing.

    6) Once you have your flat material you will need to weld together. This is critical in that you don't want your holes to be crooked when looking at it.
    7) With your desired hardware drill holes for said hardware.

In mine some hardware were purely asthetic, some help hold the two pieces together and some help mount the grill into the sacrificial grill with my own custom brackets.

    8) Roll the welded grill to the desired radius constantly fitting into sacrificial grill.
    9) Once fit nicely send to paint or powder coat.

Making your own brackets can be tricky but mine took a total of 6 or 8....I can't remember. It took me about 2 weeks to get it all the way I wanted. At the time I was working and going thru college.

Thanks for the compliments. I got asked so many times where I bought it, and it surprised everyone when I said I built it myself. My pride 'n joy!

    You're welcome.

Oh and you can have any logo made. I had that devil horns Toyota logo and a Monster "M" logo made. They were removable. I had mine water jet out of 1/4" SS and then took the same hardware screws, SS as well, and welded a few on the back to stick thru the grill holes, then just nut them on the inside to secure. Just make sure any logo is tied together as a single piece when water jet....it'll make it easier when attaching to the grill.
