Who amongst us is running this system? More specifically, I am curious to get feedback from folks who may have this system with a fairly significant and constant rear load.

This truck will be daily driven. I will have sliders, rear bumper, full size spare (37") on a swing-out, full TruckVault drawers, bed rack, RTT, and various amounts of gear, often multiple full YETIs. I would think 1000+ lbs would be pretty common. Daily driving load likely in that 600-800lb window.

From what I read, the Deaver u748 don't handle a constant load very well and have a propensity for flattening out... true?

So that leaves me with a custom Alcan pack or airbags as options I would think. Would either of those routes work with the MCM system? I'm not rock crawling so the loss of flexion on the airbag route is not much of a concern. I'm also not bombing whoops at 80mph. I'm on fire roads, unmaintained rural tracks and lots of gravel, mud and snow accessing my hunting locations around the West. Many highway miles between states too.

Any input and conversation would be much appreciated!

I haven't heard of custom packs from Deaver, only Alcan. Do you have experience with custom Deavers?

Seems like a "if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself" solve there!

What's your weight (on avg) with the triples and u748s?

Not too sure. I have 35” spare. Snugtop rebel. Another 50lbs of gear in the bed. Every day.

Did you happen to take measurements when you first got this setup? Curious as to what change, if any, with same loading you have experienced in the 6 months.

Yes with air bags or custom spring rate full leafs. You may want to let Matt (MCM) know if ordering through him, the way you’re going to utilize the truck...i.e. weight with equipment, style of driving offiroad, etc.. The rear shocks can be valved for it. Also if you’re going the air bag route. Get the Daystar Cradles with the bags so you will have full droop with articulation.

I gave him a pretty detailed run down of my plans in the email so we'll see what he recommends. His IG makes it seem like he is playing catch up on work - I'm in no rush so all is well. Thanks for sharing your experience. Have the ADS served you well?

Yes they did. Shine handling offroad slow and moderate speeds, and on the street was compliant. Fyi, having replacement full leafs make the ride. Especially on the street. Rear of the truck what makes trucks ride harsh because of the unsprung weight.

I will be going to them again on my ‘21 after things calm down. The 2.0 Fox’s I have on currently will do for now.

I have the MCM u748's and ADS bypasses. I dont have more than 200lbs daily in the bed but when I tow my trailer which is 800lbs tongue weight, it sags quite a bit. Personally if you are not afraid to cut and weld to the frame would look into the 3in leaf conversion. 3in leafs hold constant weight way better. It does cost more up front but will last longer. Just some food for thought.

You're the second recommendation for this - maybe I will investigate further. I'm no welder myself but we have a great custom fab shop here in town that I'm sure would be game. I'll bring it up to Matt once I get with him and see what he thinks as well.

I run ADS and had custom Alcans last year. Run heavy at about 1k lbs fully loaded and my Alcans went flat after one year. I’m going custom Deavers this year, but I’m guessing I may get the same result honestly.
As for the ADS question you asked someone above for me they are incredible. We ran the Idaho BDR fast and hard last year and the ADS didn’t miss a beat.

Alright so we are likely in the same weight class once I am fully built. Good to know. Let me know what type of pack they build you at Deaver.

Matt's great to work with. Having run ADS, Fox and King I hold ADS in high regard. If you plan to have +/- 800 labs on a daily basis I'd definitely suggest considering the 3" leaf conversion. This is a spring under solution but the extra width really helps with longevity/durability of the leaf packs. @osidepunker has been running 'em for a couple years now and his truck is always loaded. There's a Total Chaos kit (or Matt could and may already have made) for keeping the shocks under the bed.

One last piece of info: Load your truck out with your gear. Take it to a Cat scale and have it weighed. Then call Jeff or Scott at Deaver and they'll build your packs specifically for your weight. The 3" Tundra pack is designated the V420. Currently there are probably fewer than a dozen people running those packs.

This is good intel - thanks! If you were a speculating man, what am I looking at cost wise for a 3" conversion? I plan to have this truck for at least 5 years so I want to build it right.
