Late last night the models were from Houston to Corpus and talk of the storm strengthening. They were even talking up to a 3 or 4 and turning into a Really big storm. We were going to head South this morning but will wait for the 5AM report. The plane was flying last night at 11 still and they were hoping they could have a better handle on where and what this thing was going to go and do??? With all the computers and other techno stuff one would think they could do a better job of predicting but as we know “it is not nice to fool with Mother Nature”. :)

Disassembled the trampoline, moved potted plants, and battened down the hatches on the home front when I got off work this morning. Now to sleep, pack, head to work for a 30 hour shift, and then gtfo when the job’s done. LETS GOOOOOO... to bed.

I'd say this is similar to Irmagerd, but I can't. I used to get storm fatigue when I lived in FL because everyone was forecasting that FL would get wiped then the thing would turn, but it's definitely a different story for TX/LA. It can't turn anywhere else but populated areas. Good luck to all the Gulf Coasters.

So, the relief I feel that we are not going to take a direct hit from a major hurricane is only overshadowed by the thoughts of those who will be impacted. Hoping for the best.

Being from S. Louisiana, the only hurricanes that stick out to me are Andrew, Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ivan, and Harvey (moved to Texas prior to Harvey). Of those Harvey is the only one I evacuated for and that was only due to the sheer amount of rain causing the river by me to crest over the levees. Gustav is the one that caused me the most pain the extended power outage. Katrina and Rita were a crazy 1-2 punch to start off the first month of college. That year never normalized. Ivan had the craziest path I've ever seen. Playing this one by ear, but think we'll be fine in SW Houston. Little rain, high winds, and power outages. Plan on grabbing some beer and grill whatever meats start thawing from the freezer.

Ended up evacuating with my family yesterday. We were planning on waiting it out but with how it’s looking we decided not to risk it.
At this point living in port Arthur, we’ve pretty much set our minds to either returning to no home standing or a completely flooded house.

Good luck! We take 73 thru Winnie anytime we head east. Land is really low out there. Hopefully the intensity drops drastically before it hits.

CAT 4 for a storm that was originally projected to be a TS/Cat 1. I hope that all of you and your families in that area are safe!!

You all be safe - I have family in Slidell I always worry about with Gulf storms. I'm right on the east coast too and I've lived through a bunch of them.

Side* I'm pissed the petition didn't work to get the second storm renamed to Polo.
