I still have 7K to 8K left on my NITTOs. I may wait until after I get back from vacation on 7/10. Then re-check budget.

Got out my Ascend 10 footer. Vacation coming soon. I bought this totally bare bones. I like to add my own hardware/handles, etc. Cheaper that way. I've got a 13ft sit on top bare bones kayak that I haven't even started yet. Going to install the rod holder today. Got to get a sixer first. :jellydance:

I don't really need to post these pics but it kept my mind off "things" for awhile:

    as.jpg Pole holder
    iii.jpg 1st beer
    ppp.jpg 2nd beer
    mmm.jpg 3rd beer
vvv.jpg Very thick. Not a wussy kayak. Just short. Good for those small mountain lakes here in CO and the reservoir near my property.
yyy.jpg I have a lot of real good expensive knives. I seem to always go back to my $13 Ace Hardware discounted Swiss.
    mm.jpg Added a fore pad connection.4th beer
lll.jpg Added an Aft pad connection. 5th beer
msaple.jpg Picked these up on my way back from AK. Bought them at a town called " Hundred Mile House" in BC, Maple Leaf country  (After 100's of AK craft beers)

The modern Day Tripper paddles are the bomb, but I love those Canuck hand made wood paddles. I need to get the "Up Shit Creek" paddles to get me to kayaking Nirvana land.:homer:

My truck actually looked good with my NITTOs. One thing for sure... I'm not after what looks good, I'm more into what works for me.

(Definitely want it to look good but within budget)

Getting 4 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro, 295/70R/18E's installed today at 3PM. Turns out our guy in shipping has a good friend/neighbor who manages a Big O Tire store. Now we're talking.. Still have my Sears rewards. I'll just use them for more tools. heh..heh

You're making me go crazy! I have a trip coming up to Lake Maurepas. FINALLY gonna kayak some. Used to kayak up and down the bay back when I was living in Ft. Lauderdale a couple of years ago. Can't tell you how much I miss it.
Dream trip is some Colorado rivers and lakes! It's gonna happen one day!

I have about 1/2 inch clearance from the cab mount. I've got the chop plates. Need to get that done soon. I want all the clearance I can get. The front trimming is not a big deal. I may have to trim the bumper a little for best results. I'm pretty sure Sean has some pics posted here on his build thread. I need to take a look at those pics (and get a grinder with my Sears rewards...)

I don't have them. The tires rub on the plastic fender well liner. It looks like a simple job to deal with that, although I'll probably need to grind back some off the inside lip of the bumper. Pretty much a 6 pack job.

Lots of lakes/rivers here in CO. Doesn't take long to drive from FL. Minnesota=10,000 lakes. Alaska= over 3,000,000 lakes larger than 20 acres, 3,000 rivers. Not to mention a bazillion miles of AK coast line for kayaking. Kinda makes Texas look small. No offense.

You paid attention in geography class didn't you?
No offense taken, I'm a born and bred Cajun Louisianan. To me, each state has its own beauty that can't be compared to others, nor should it. You can book it I'll be checking out some areas when I move up to TN in a couple months! Never been up and close to the Appalaichans. :woot:

Tennessee should have some decent kayaking. Love Cajun blackened fish and crawdads. hoo wee. You should be able to find a few crawdads in them thar Tennessee Rivers too. We used to get them Oregon. Actually they could get pretty big by late summer.

You should try a fried crawfish and shrimp po' boy if you ever come down here with a side of boudin balls. That'll hit the spot right quick! I'll be on the lookout for some crawdads, wash it down with some Tennessee moonshine!!
Yeah, crawdads down here in Louisiana are pretty big come April-may. 'Course we don't have much of a winter so, mating season for them critters come early!

OK, Sean here is what I did today after work:

cooper1.jpg OK, the pot o gold that I saw yesterday as I pulled in to Big O. I new they were MINE

    bvb.jpg Took those off.

121.jpg Actually tires do not rub any more, but hate anything protruding, so a little trimming needs to be done.

vvv.jpg Plenty of room on rear, but still want to do chop mount mod. (I'm thinking starting a go fund me for the chop mount mod and a side trip to AK.)

Only some minor trimming left to do. Like Sean, I'll find a way to re position those plastic fender covers to keep out dirt/mud.
