Correct on all counts. IMO too. Some of the so called "poorest" folks I've met seem to be the richest in life. Not a coincidence that they are usually farmers/ranchers that put in 15/16 hr days. They don't even have the time to know that some people think that they are "poor". Sheesh.

That is some awesome country down there. I hope you frequent it often.

I have to admit, haven't read the whole thread. Since you are off grid, what systems do you have in place or plan on? (solar, generators?)

Most year rounders are using solar or propane or a combo. Some have large water tanks. You can get water delivered. Some are using wells which can cost up to $30 a ft to drill. Usually 100 to 130 ft down. I've seen a few cisterns in use. People can get very creative when you live off grid.

I'll probably never stay there year round. Pretty much for vacation time, although I usually get down there 5 or 6 times during the summer. After I retire I'll spend a lot more time there. Need to get a fancy RV. I could easily spend 3 weeks or more in it. I am planning on putting a hunting cabin. Possibly a Yurt. Got a friend who builds them.

A lot of state parks not only have rental cabins, but also have rental Yurts. Yurts can be built pretty much any size and built/ installed fairly quick. Very versatile. Ask any Mongol (no , not the bikers):http://coloradoyurt.com/

As I've stated previously I really like the Cooper STT Pro M/T's. I have been also considering the Cooper S/T MAXX which is Cooper's A/T M/T hybrid. All the off road mag reviews for this hybrid are quite good. I realized that I have over $240 in Sears "shop your way" rewards. Sears can get me 275/70/18E's for $255, 33"ers. (Discount Tire is $258, where I usually go). They (Sears) can't get 35's for some reason. I'm tempted, since I can knock off $240 from the total. Almost a free tire. I'm not exactly unhappy with 33"s. Got a chance to get some great tires and at a great price for my budget:

They are very cool. I've been to Pacific Yurts facility and Colorado Yurts. It's amazing what you can do with these as far as interior not to mention the cool decks that can be built. Very easy to install on any terrain. Don't even have to grade any ground.

Yes they are Ron. I may go down to Sears in the morning and do the deal. It's hard to pass up. I'll sleep on it.

Your not the only one. It's easier now. I really need to get the best bang for the $ whenever I can now. Got so many other things that are competing with the money tree weak ass crop.

Mat have you considered the 295/70/18, there a 34.5 tire +/- . the St Maxx is a great looking tire, I will be getting them when I wear my current ones down

I will go with what is most affordable and logical for my situation. I can save $240 for a very decent tire at a great price. I've haven't decided anything. I like the idea of 35" . The S/T MAXX are 33.4". Not a huge difference at all. Maybe 1" total added clearance. .8" with the 295's which Sears doesn't have either. The price differential between Sears S/T MAXX price with $240 rewards credit and 35" STT is a few hundred $ that I can use on other equally important things that I've got going on.

I'm liking both Cooper models too. Seems like they make good tires. The toyos I have now have been the best tires I've ever owned, but man I could have saved 500 bucks or so getting Cooper's. If you get a set I'll be interested in how they get the job done.

I'm going to hit up the Sears Tire manager to see if he can get the STT's. They were not in stock online and prices were very good. The STT's were the only 305/295 tires that I'd even consider. I'm thinkin they are very popular.

The main thing is that I want to utilize my rewards $. The S/T MAXX's had great all around reviews in every category which is a plus. My NITTO Tgrap M/Ts were only OK in packed snow/wet pavement conditions. Very little siping is the problem.

I still want to use my $240 in Sear $. I'll see what Sears dude says tomorrow. I do really like the S/T MAXXs. All about budget at this point.

Auto Center doesn't open until 10AM. I guess it boils down to if I want to stick with M/Ts or kick it down a notch and go with a quasi AT/MT hybrid tread. :argue:

Just got back from Sears. Service manager can get me the STTs and guaranteed lowest price. I'm going to sit on this for a week or so. I want to decide which way to go budget wise. I should go back Sears and buy some more tools. More tools= more Sears reward $. I like my logic.
