After I installed then tech12volts remote starter, it's more important for me to hear the exterior beeping of the doors lock. Has anyone found a way to make it louder or possibly use the horn?

There's a setting for it, my aftermarket head unit allows it, but not sure if OEM has it. The max volume unfortunately isn't super loud

+1 what Jason said, and no the OEM doesn't give access to that setting. But if you have access to TechStream, or Carista (mobile phone app + $20 bluetooth OBD reader) you can change it to max. Still not very loud, but better.

I was hoping there was a modification where you can get the unit replaced with something louder or use the horn somehow. My guess is that using the scan tool to increase the volume wont solve my problem of not hearing the lock / unlock

Changing the setting is worth a try Scotty. Cheap and easy enough to do with Carista. And you get to configure a host of other things as well, and end up with a code reader/clearer to boot.

The volume for the beeps is in the settings on the radio. Mines loud enough for me to hear inside the house for my remote start.

Its a good point. Any links to what I need to purchase? Is it a separate c able and separate software? And, does this mean my existing odb reader wont work on the Tundra?

Search the app store on your phone for "Carista". Just download it for now.

Pick up one of these (probably even find it at a local auto parts store or big box retailer?):
    https://www.amazon.com/Carista-Blue...words=carista&qid=1553703292&s=gateway&sr=8-2

Plug it in, pull up the app and follow the prompts/instructions. Took me 30 seconds to get connected and viewing/changing settings on my iPhone.

Carista lets you read codes for free forever. But they want to charge a monthly or annual fee to change settings. However, you get a free month with purchase of their dongle (linked above). So I made all my changes and then let the free month expire. Now its just a code reader, unless I decide to buy later 'cause I want to tweak settings again.

Your existing code reader should work just fine. When done with Carista's dongle, you can unplug it and plug back in your previous. For me, I've just left mine in (hidden, never see it). That way if I throw a code I can just pull up the app and check it out right away. And I don't have to try and keep track of the dongle.

and this works on your 2019? I ask because I see on the Carsita website that it only supports 2nd Gen (2007+)

Can anyone CONFIRM that Carsita allows external sound adjustment and not just interior?

Confirmed: used successfully on my 2019 SR5 DC.

Confirmed: my beep volume upon locking/unlocking from the FOB is configurable in Carista.

This might help. Another member went thru the trouble of taking screenshot of all Carista can configure:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/carista-options.20601/#post-482167

Edit: Actually wait one. I'm not seeing the beep volume setting in that thread. Let me go look and take some shots direct from mine. Give me a few...

I looked for that one before I think that is just for the radio beep.

On my tuner from bully dog I can turn on and off either the beep or the horn for the alarm. I can’t remember which one it was, or both LOL.

I bought a Carista and although it does have a setting for the unlock door alert it is no different than the toyota adjustment that can made via the settings. So, for anyone interested in making the door alert louder, the Carista, although convenient is not the solution

Yes it can be adjusted from stock HU. Many settings can be changed from the head unit using settings and vehicle customization. The truck needs to be running but here are pics of what Toyota allows you to adjust. You can adjust lock/unlock volume too.

So i am back to Square one. Anyone have an option to increase the external Door Lock/Unlock alert? I am wondering if I can swap out the existing alert with something louder. anyone know?

First mod: Gaffer tape over door lock/unlock beeper
As somebody who lives in an apartment complex and whose bedroom window is about 10 feet from a parking lot full of 30 cars, I'd love to suggest "just listen for the sound of the lock solenoids".

First thing I did when I got my 1st gen was find the thing that beeps when I lock / unlock and shove a wad of gaffers tape in it to mute it.

...although hearing "beep beep mutherf*cker" at 5am might be funny, at least the first couple of times.

Edit: My previous vehicle's system was: push once to lock (silently) and push twice to hear a confirmation beep. I thought that was fine - beep if you need it, but otherwise don't. Maybe that's the way they all are these days? Anyhow, my 1st gen beeps with one push, and I feel bad - it's maybe a few feet away from somebody's head on a pillow.
