I had an EGT on my 99 Dodge CTD. It was surprising how fast exhaust temps would drop even after a hard pull near the “time to back off” zone.

    Very good observation.

turbo temp is a function of af ratio or how hard you are pushing in the pedal more than anything else

The auto stop features have some parameters that have to be met before it will turn the engine off. I know battery state of charge is one, i also know climate control usage is one (if the compressor needs to run again). These condition will not allow the engine to shut off and usually for Toyota they will display the reason why in the Driver Info Center in the dash. I can't imagine it would be too hard for them to add something about coolant temp coming from turbos?? Toyota is generally very smart and clever and probably will not allow it to auto stop if it had just been run hard and come to a stop.

Maybe someone with a 22 can chime in and confirm??

No. I purposefully chose to not move to Colorado after a few work trips there. The traffic sucks at all times of day. 2PM trying to get to a meeting and I sit in stop and go.

Sounds just like the Bay Area on any given day...

Yeah, pretty much anywhere on the west coast is like that. The only place I have been that doesn't have obnoxious traffic all day long at this point is Anchorage and Oklahoma City

So I actually don't turn off my Auto Stop. When I got off the highway, about a 25 minute drive. It seems that if the temp is to high for the turbos, it just displays a message "Currently Unavailable" and about a minute of idling the truck then did the auto stop waiting at the light. Don't know if it was a fluke or intended purpose based on the owners manual saying I need to turn it off manually.

The only part of the feature I can’t stand is when putting it into park, the engine will shut off for a half a second and then turn back on. Almost like it’s in the “D” logic and wants to shut off, then goes into “P” logic and turns on. So annoying

Anyone know of a work around for the above issue other than pushing the button. Every. Time.

Don’t press the brake so hard when you’re going to park, keep the engine on.
