To be clear, I said there was a 30% chance that cardealership guy is wrong and nothing happens. I handicapped a 30% chance of it being a Gen3 Tundra issue and if that's the case, 100% chance of the Gen2/2.5 mafia being so happy they won't know what to do with themselves. I did notice that there is a group buy on party favors on the 2.5 forum so maybe they know something? :)

I don’t think you’ve adequately considered the lobbying efforts of the Gen2 owners.

I live in the boonies and have a neighbor who was convinced everything was going to shut down on Y2K. He bought 5 huge commercial generators and 5000 gallons of diesal fuel in preparation for it. I still tease him about that every time I see him.

Relating to the topic, it appears Toyota took about 1-1/2 years to iron out the Gen 3 problems. My June '23 build has been flawless in almost 8000 miles, so far. I just got its first recall/notification about the e-brake issue, but haven't experienced any e-brake errors. I fully expect this truck to be as reliable as my previous 2008 and 2015 Tundras.

I will say, however, if I could do it over again, I'd take a more serious look at the Ram 1500. My buddy has 40K miles on his 2021 and hasn't had a single problem. When I ride in it, everything just feels more solid than my Tundra. Of course, I'll never admit that to him.

I almost got the Ram 1500 but really didn't want to deal with the MDS. I came from a Silverado and hated the cylinder deactivation even though I had a range device that kept it in V8. I just didn't like the technology and the known issues with MDS. I also almost bought the Ram 2500 with the Cummins Diesel. But I just dont put enough miles on a diesel and I know I would have many issues with sensors, DPF etc.

I do haul 8-10k lbs a few times a year which didn't justify the HD truck. I am happy with my Tundra and the 1800 miles I have on it. It rides well but there are are always things I can nitpick like the sun reflecting off the hood and my scrunchy seats. :)

I agree. Identified a problem, took ownership, corrected the issue promptly. Better than some....

That’s a lot of trucks. Likely close to 90k or more for a months production of those 4 models.

1612 to be exact, if I'm reading it correctly.

Ahh, I see the fine print. Wonder how 1612 trucks were affected over a month at three different plants but the rest built during that time are ok? Guessing the motor is built in a central location and shipped to those plants.

Yeah I'm guessing it was one specific cast (of many) that produced 1,612 flawed blocks that made their way to those 4 factories.

Depends on the type and rate of failure. There’s a person or department at the manufacturer that decides what to do based on cost, reputation and likelyhood of forced recall. Reputation seems to be a distant third concern these days. Cost rules.

Well it’s 1600 vehicles out of a million produced in ‘23. Not sure it’ll make a ripple

Stop sale on all f150's, explores ect right not just the ones they know were affected. If you have one ordered it cannot be sold right?
    Just trying to understand this.
*maybe ford is still trying to nail it down to a batch of block numbers to be identified as the bad ones*

its 1600 trucks, says right on it, nothing compared to what they build really.

likely the same amount of bearing failures per trucks built for toyota , lol.

so ford and toyota are even, well not really.... they circle the problem for ya:p
