Any M40 guys out there? I have some questions for you. I have a m40a1 and m40a5 and I'm having issues with my m40a1's optic, the MST-100.

Thank you. GA Precision built both rifles.

The issue with the MST is that the bell is bent (see picture). The gap between the bell and barrel should not be that close together. I sent the optic to Iron Sight INC, and they tried to get some of the bend out but were not successful. Chris from https://thehogsden.com/ said he can take care of it. I'm waiting to hear back from him.

You are talking to the right people. I have never seen that before but Im not overly tuned in to those circles. The guys you're talking to are. Good Luck with the repair. That's scary to fix on piece like that.

Has it always been this way? If so, the scope base may be for looooong range shooting.

I wish it was the base but it's not. IRON SIGHT already confirmed. They suspect that it was dropped while it was in service. I bought it from the CMP.

Ouch. Nice piece of machinery. Unfamiliar with these rifles so excuse my ignorance of them. Who made the optics?

UNERTL made the MST100 for the USMC M40a1. UNERTL is not around anymore so if you can find a MST100, you found a piece of history.

Very, very nice. Do you plan to shoot it? You've probably already forgotten more than I'll know of the .308 but I knew the .308 and .222 are my favorite calibers for easy accuracy. You really have to screw up a load with a decent rifle to get > MOA. I used to own a Sako L57 Forester in .308. Unfortunately Baby's momma quit paying child support....

Oh yeah, It's definitely a shooter. I really enjoy shooting the .308, also one of my favorite calibers. I have a LEE reloading press that was gifted to me that's been collecting dust. I really need to get into the reloading game.

PSA had FGMM ammo on special yesterday that would suit those rifles well.

Do it. Even the Lee Loader kit will give you a more accurate round. I've been reloading for many years and very much enjoy the hobby. I don't save money but instead shoot alot more and what I do shoot is accurate. Some of my rifles have never seen a factory round.

Very nice! GA Precision makes some VERY nice and highly accurate rifles. My brother has a GAP Team Rifle in 6.5 PRC and that thing is a tack driver.
