SO...I got to looking at some EWDs, and then poking around under the rear end of the truck on the passenger side. For those of us in the US that are jealous of the Canadians having the BSM on their TRD Pros...well, my money says the wiring is at least there to the back of the frame. That grey thing is a blank-off plug in the exact spot where the plug for the parking sonar and BSM wiring harness would plug in. The harness below it feeds the taillights and trailer light plug.

It's low on my list, but this mod has now made it on my list. I could care less about parking sonar, but BSM should be an easy add.

 

Would love to have both. Miss it actually from my last truck. Makes parking garages a lot easier.

 

I've never had it. I've got rear camera, and on my last truck my first mod was to install a switch to turn that on whenever I wanted it (it was a small flip-down screen about 2.5" across in the upper console). I would use the rear camera to get my back end perfectly positioned (tow ball about 1/2" off the license plate of the car behind me). I will be installing a front camera here soon with the front/rear anytime camera button, so for me that beats sonar any day of the week. My wife has BSM in her Forester. I hardly notice it when I'm riding (I don't drive it)...but now that I know I CAN install it myself (using factory parts), that's half the reason I want to do it.

Even though I may go to tow mirrors in the future (I miss them from my 2008)...I'll end up adding BSM LEDs into the housing if I do install them.

 

you’re quite handy. I’m literally the antithesis of this. Anyway, my Titan had them and it just made it easy parking up against a wall or backing out in a crowded parking garage that isn’t well lit....I always rely on the camera but added piece of mind knowing just how close. The camera in the Tundra is quite good. It’s the front where I need a camera now.

Following....very interested in this....I have a lunar rock TRD Pro on order and will be getting it in the next month. Coming from a Platinum the one thing I think I will miss is the folding mirrors as I can get my truck in my garage with those folded. Are you aware of a solution for that? Very excited to get my lunar rock Pro.

 

The solution for that would be buying a set of power folding mirrors and switch and then adding the missing wires to make it all work. The 2014+ Limited trim (which the current TRD Pro is based off of) got rid of the power folding mirrors... it was part of the limited trim in the 2007-2013. I know there are threads on here about doing it... it’s on my potential list of mods as well (might do them both at the same time). Not cheap, but then what is.

 

Really interested to see where you go with. I miss the cross traffic alert from my last tacoma. BSM would be nice too.

Makes me miss my Double Cab...for a moment. I like the bed stamp infills...I almost went with that scheme.

 

I finally installed the bed stamp letters. I really like the contrast with the red TRD.

Now I just need to order sliders/side steps.

 

What are those blue clouds in the sky you have down there? We don't see those very often this time of year.

I do have the BSM sensors and wiring harnesses from my Tacoma......I wonder if the parts are the same...

 

Shoot me a PM with the part numbers that are on the sensors, or a picture of them. As I've been researching a little, I'm finding a lot of different part numbers depending on the year and model of truck. While I am willing to but function hasn't changed, it looks like there have been tweaks to the mounting and perhaps some refinement of the internals on the sensors themselves.

All the waiting for my stuff to arrive is driving me insane. Especially when I know it’s sitting at the fedex and ups places in town. My rear TRD sway bar is at UPS and my wireless phone charger is at fedex but New Year’s Day has them delayed. Also have 1” Bora spacers ordered but no idea when they will even ship.

I guess I’ll keep watching everyone’s else’s mods till then.

 

I’m with you. Had to order my Wildpeaks. No clue when they get here. Ordered my ABS TRD PRO inserts looks like USPS lost them. They have been sitting in Atlanta since 12/25 and haven’t moved. But the seller won’t send me new once since the USPS tracking says several packages will be delayed. Tint scheduled for Tuesday and Lomax stance scheduled for Wednesday.

When I first saw this inserts/emblems I wasn’t sure if the red/yellow/orange would look good on a Lunar Rock. Sought out other colors. Found the lightbue/royal/white which looks cool but not on a LR and then the gray/black/white which I thought looks kinda boring but better match and then when I saw one you really only see the white.
Now I think I’m starting to love yours more abs more when I see it. LR with the yellow/red/orange looks great.

 

haha after spending a few weeks up in Portland, I definitely missed the blue clouds lol
