First time changing wheels and tires. I’m pleased with it, but with these crazy offers going around, I might let it go for the right price

Not even 2 weeks into ownership and someone dinged my bumper…

Luckily just seems like just the bumper cap, but not even sure what to do. Would this just be cosmetic damage? Could getting bumped have damaged something else/thrown off the alignment? Should I get it check out?

Anyone know the parts number for the bumper caps?

I’m on a pretty small Army base, and the truck only gets parked in a couple spots. If I find a car with some lunar rock paint on the bumper, will the cops be able to do anything?

On a side note, every time I pull out of my parking spot in the morning (so steering wheel is pretty much locked left/right), there’s what sounds like some metallic rubbing as the wheel straightens out when I come out of the turn. Is this normal for a new truck or in general?

DANG that sucks! by the looks of it, it appears it's just damage to the paint on the bumper end. doesn't look like it hit hard enough to affect anything else. only way you'd prob be able to get the culprit to pay for it is if you have cameras to see who did it and they agree to pay. it's on private property and not a public road, so it usually is just a matter of someone being honest and paying for it.

Ouch... that's expensive. Thanks for looking for me.

Yeah kind of ruined my morning. The paint's not too bad ( :itllbuffout: ), but there's a crack in the fiberglass. Not sure if part of something came through or if it's just from flexing. Bummer, but figured there was no way to hold someone accountable without witnessing it. Thanks, man. Now to decide whether or not to live with it, eat the cost of two bumper caps, or pay an insurance deductible (does not seem worth...).

Check the build link in my signature.
You can buy just a single cap and then get it paint matched locally. Part number for the left front cap without sonar (it will come bare black plastic) is 52113-0C080

Don't know or recall any sort of metallic rubbing sound coming out of a turn. You'll hear a clunk a lot of times when first starting to roll - it's the ABS system doing something.

To me that’s just not a bump. I would not be happy with that. You should be able to hopefully find out who bumped into your truck.

What you're hearing is likely the skid plate rubbing on the cross member. Its a common problem and can usually be fixed by torqueing the bolts correctly (which isn't always done at the factory)

    heres the fix: https://www.tundras.com/threads/annoying-sound.88582/

Make a police report, talk to the MPs. Sometimes MPs are so bored they'll actually investigate, since most of the time they have nothing else to do specially in a small base. The MPs at my old duty station (20 yrs ago) would investigate the minimal shit like who threw gum on the sidewalk.

Thanks! I had the windows tinted to match the tint on the truck. Also keeps peepers from eyeing my road bikes I put inside it.

You can also take the vehicle to your local Toyota dealership and as long as they have the part in stock they will replace at no charge. Part#/Description below

Wow, am I annoyed!!!!! Went to go install my new 3-color front grille badge, popped the hood and was immediately greeted by visualizing oil spatter all inside the engine compartment!!! WTF? My oil cap was sitting there resting in the crack where the back of the battery is and the compartment. I had the oil changed at the dealer at 10K about 50 days and 3K miles ago. Truck has been running fine with normal oil pressure and temp, and when I checked the oil level it's full according to the stick. Only thing different was actually smelling some oil/fuel, on occasion, when getting out of the truck over the last couple of weeks. This makes me think it was less of dealer oversight problem and more of the malicious intention type problem. I've had my truck valeted at a few hotels since the oil change, so I wonder if some $uck-wad decided to take the oil cap off to be a giant douche-bag. Is there a way to pop the hood of the truck with it locked? Super pissed.

Wow - thats fuct! I don't think you can pop the hood when locked but if the valet had the key fob then who knows. Did you take any photos? I'd let the dealer know right away just to get it on record.

Check these out! See where the cap was placed. I immediately called the dealer and I agree it's hard to hang it on them 2 months and 3K miles later. Seems like it would have reared its head prior to that. No driveway oil or anything. If it was malicious though, why wouldn't they just chuck the cap altogether? I don't know, people suck, whether they are in hurry and forget or they want to cause problems. The truck will live.

That sucks!! My Toyota dealer did that to me in my Tacoma. Found the cap beside the battery a month after they serviced it. Now I always pop the hood before I leave the lot.

Really???!!!! Hmmmmmm. Maybe it was them. I'm not heavy footed off the line, but I run this sucker on the freeway into work. Checking will now be my routine. Sprayed some dilute Simple Green on the heavy deposited spots and wiped with a rag. Not going to pressure wash anything. Oh well. Thanks for the comments forum peeps!

That’s suck. Whenever I had the dealer do my free oil changes I checked everything when I get home since the dealer is not far from me.

Same here. Subaru dealer for me. I have respect for these technicians that work for a living. They do make mistakes too, and I would rather inspect lugnuts, check oil (and cap) in their parking lot than be stuck on the highway. I would rather hurt their feelings than try to control my homicidal feelings later.

It actually just started as a pun because I get a new vehicle every year, but karma found me and I really am developing RLS now! Kind of wish I had gone with something wealth-based, but here we are.
