Low profile seat? My head is in the roof:(

I love this truck but even at its Lowest position, my head is 1 finger width from the roof. I hit the roof if I hit a bump. My wife witnessed this and said “if you roll this truck, you’re dead. Or paralyzed.”

    and I feel like she’s right. I still owe 30k. I can’t just grab a new truck.

so…is there an alternative seat option? Does anyone know of a low profile seat? Something that I get a little bit of separation between my skull and the roof?

    thanks

Are you like 7’ tall with most of that being torso?? I’m 6’ and have plenty of room above my head. You should have the power driver seat on your truck, I feel like that goes pretty low when it’s all the way down.

No kidding how tall are you???? I know some Tallulah people who drive these and are fine. I feel like the tundra gives more room than most

I'm 6ft tall and I feel the same, I can't wear a hat without my head hitting the roof.. so I slouch. Although my 2005 4runner was worse.

And the Limited seats are like sitting on a big round rock, I hate them.

You must have a moon roof. I am 6’2 and could wear a top hat and be fine in my crew max.

I’m 6’1”. But I’m all torso. I wear 30” inseam pants. So short legs for a guy my height. The sunroof takes away a few inches. Looking back, I barely even use it. I shoulhave got one without a sunroof

That’s crazy. I didn’t think the sunroof would take away that much head space.

Yeah. So…seats? Marveling at my predicament and giant head is fun and all, but I’d love to fix the issue without trading in my truck. I did a lot of work to it. Bed liner, fox suspension, lift etc.

    Gangsta lean could fix it.

In all seriousness try a vehicle upholstery shop. They will be able to maybe change the cushion out for something thinner. That’s gonna be up to you for long term though it may suck ass (or pinch ass, or flatten ass who knows)

In all seriousness, I think having the seat reupholstered with thinner foam would be the cheapest and easiest route. I would think you could get the seat brackets fabbed shorter, but I don’t know how that affects the safety of the seat.

I am assuming you did this, but have you verified that the seat is all the way down?

You could lower your seat as low as it goes, then measure from the floor to the bottom of your seat (get measurements for front and rear edges of the seat) and we could verify that the seat is as low as it will go.

Yours is the only thread like this I’ve seen in several years, so I think something is weird (and it’s not your head!)

Maybe your motor isn’t going all the way down? Maybe there is an obstruction?

Is there anything stored under the seat that may prevent it from going lower?? Or that it's hitting making you think it's bottomed out when it isn't? I'm only 5'8 but I know I store a first aid kit and some shoes under my front seat.

Have you sat in any other trucks? My two super dutys had a larger interior, but not by much. I agree with TRDFerguson about the upholstery.

I had thought about fabbing a seat bracket that sits a little lower, maybe gain an inch or so. I have used a similar method on my old Land Rover Discovery to gain a few inches in backward adjustment, don't see why it wouldn't work for this.

If you had lowered the truck instead of lifting it, you'd have more headroom :monocle:

Another reason Sunroofs are a waste. Also, you didn't notice this when test driving? Regardless, take it to a custom upholstery shop and see of they can lower the seat brackets.

Damn bro, you have a long ass body :D I have a friend who's 6'7 and he bought the Tundra since it was the only truck he would fit in, he must be all legs though hahaha

I would pull the seat and see what you can do to lower it. The stock seats have a ton of empty space under them, where as the sliders on the seats for my buggy (as example) are only like 0.5" tall. I'd start there, might be able to shorten the slider assembly and weld it back together or something and drop it considerably.

Nope. There’s no obstruction under the seat. It’s as low as it will go. I will look into having someone shorten the assembly. There’s welders at work. So that might work out ok.

These seats sit obnoxiously high up. I'm only 6' so it's like my feet are almost dangling above the floor with the seat at its lowest setting.

I’m 6’6” and I fit great in my Tundra. Plenty of head room but I also do not have a moon roof. That’s why I didn’t look into a Tacoma or 4Runner- Tundra has the room I need.
