2011 tundra Ltd

Stock

2011 5.7 Ltd / book says 27 gallon tank. Typically empty at 21 gallon refill. Last time I went 3 gallons into apparent reserve. The engine backfired 3 times. What gives??

more than I can list here

The fuel system went dry and the engine lean backfired. I would limit the amount of times you do this. The fuel pump is cooled by fuel.
