Currently I’m doing a no carb diet and thin crust pizza. Works just fine in some really harsh terrain. It’s almost like the Aussies and South Africans know something about pizza.

Think I’m gonna stick to the thin meat and upgrade my wheels to a +25 titanium color with the latest and greatest Toyo tires available in 285/75r18. Only cuz America and tires are consumables :)

I decided to stick with the stock size. It was only $200 more than going to 18x7.5s and 255/75R18s. Be getting my steel rims and Blizzaks on the 17th.

Let’s be Toyo MT Twinzies and drive around face palming people with “stock” tires as we pull over for gas every two hours.

What Landcruiser model is this and where? Very cool, great example of form following function.

I have the 295/70r18 Toyo AT2s and I have about 40k miles on them right now with a good bit of tread still left. I think youll be happy with the AT3’s. I also daily my truck and she is thirsty but it’s not too bad. I get 14-15 mpg. But trucks also paid for so that helps.

Now you have me reconsidering this tire size. Stock TRD off road rims and the 285/75R18 will be fine with 2.5” lift in front?

My only two hang ups revolve around being a cheapskate. These are about $50 more a tire than the 275/70 tires and I don’t want to turn the gas pig into a bigger gas pig.

All that said, more clearance is never a bad thing.

I had the Toyo AT III in 285/75R18 and the Cooper AT3 XLT as well. If you have reserved thoughts and are in the “MPG is a concern bus”, I would not get the Toyo MT. The Cooper or the Toyo AT sound like your happy place. As for the 2.5 lift, I also have total chaos upper control arms which allows for a much better alignment and no rubbing anywhere. My lift is the Forum special Bilstein 6112 on the top setting which is closer to 3 inches. Either way, the 285/75R18 is the perfect size tire for the Tundra and I will turn blue in the face trying to tell people. But Americans want that 12.5 width for no apparent reason or benefit other than to induce problems and add weight I guess.

Toyota Landcruiser model HZJ79. These are all over Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, Australia, etc. if I could import this model, I would be a bazillionaire in the US. They are the ultimate utility truck and really the Jeep Gladiator is a crappy knock off for a stupid price and no diesel or Toyota reliability.

@Zero One Actual thank you. Yeah, no MT tire, I’m pretty well set on the Falken WP AT3W. Too much icy/snowy highway driving to go MT.

I have the Eibach Pro shocks/springs on the highest setting and stock UCA.

Maybe I should go with the Toyo ATIII so I have the 45 day period‍. Price between them and the Falken is 17 bucks more per tire.

You’re in the exact situation I’m in. The only problem I have is the curiosity of the next gen. The smart thing is to drive this thing in the ground since it’s paid for but if the new ones are awesome and the MPG climb significantly, it will be tough to ignore.

That’s exactly what I did. I went from the Cooper AT3 XLT to the Toyo AT III. I had the Toyo AT for about three weeks and called the shop that installed them and said hey, hate to be a pain, but I want to test this Toyo claim out. It was legit. He ordered the MT’s, which I knew are worse on MPG blah blah blah, but they charged me about $75 for the price difference between the AT and MT and that was it. Super easy and Toyo’s 30 day/500 mike tryout is real. These MT’s for me are an experiment. If they suck, I will sell them and go back to an AT. But the Falken, Toyo and Cooper are all the tire any of us will ever need in the U.S.

I love my Falken, but would probably try those Toyo AT If I was buying right now. Mostly because American made and they look slightly more aggressive on the side lugs than the Falken. Don’t get me wrong the Falken is an excellent tire and they are probably very similar in performance. Some folks have said the toyo is a little loud, but I’m sure it’s not obnoxious.

I had the Cooper AT3 XLT. It was the quietist. The Toyo AT III was almost identical. The Toyo MT is loudest. However. All three are still quieter than my TRD duel exhaust with the windows up. MTs are loud around 20 MPH getting up to speed or braking with all four windows down.

After letting this circulate some more in my hyperactive mind, I am somewhat confident I'm going to split the difference and go 285/70R18 (34"x11.5") in the Nitto EXO Grappler. I have no qualms about beating the shit out of my gear, but I do have some weird mental hangup with regards to modifying things such that they are more prone to wear. The 35" tire thing worries me I'll be subjecting the front end to additional wear it wouldn't normally see due to tire weight.

At least that's my decision for today. Tomorrow I reserve the right to change my mind LOL. Who knows, I may down some whiskey, lose my inhibition, and call Discount Tire and place the order.....

I think 285/75r18 is really the golden size for 1/2 ton trucks, the right amount of height and minimal weight/mpg penalty, I've had it on my Rebel for a while now and love it, going to have the same tires put on the Tundra when it arrives.

Form vs Function I guess, some want to look cool, I just want it to work, next up is finding the right size for my wife's 4runner.

Here's the pizza cutter on a Rebel, which is being replaced by a Tundra in next few weeks.

Good tire choice on the truck(s). As for the 4runner, I suggest 255/75/17...33" of awesomeness! That's why we have on my wife's 4runner...

After endless mental masturbation, I just stopped by Discount Tire and ordered a set of Goodyear Duratracs in 275/70R18. Goodyear has a rebate, that coupled with a first responder rebate and Discount CC rebate put the total price at $1140 w/ tax and replacement warranty. The EXO Grappler has been out for years, and I could find very little information on the interwebz about it. The lack of popularity concerned me a bit, and the tire guy said the Duratrac was a better tire for my application anyway. Just waiting on delivery....
