Hey guys, been trying to wait for the new '22 Tundra, but current needs for a 4x4 truck are coming before the release. I have started looking and found what I feel to be a decent TRD Pro locally. With the market prices as inflated as they are, I just want to make sure I am not making a dumbass decision to buy at an insane price. It is a 2019 TRD pro with 38k miles, listed at close to $54k. Laid eyes on the car today while the dealership was closed. Crawled under it and looked at the chassis. Everything looks clean as a whistle. Would like to hear your thoughts on current market and if this is a decent deal or not. Truck has spray-in liner, and rear cover. 2019 TRD Pro.jpg 2019 TRD Pro Bed.jpg

kinda figured that, but still would like to ask the community if it is relatively a fair price given the current market.

Just bought my 2019 pro about 30 days ago and they had it listed at $54,950 with 26k on it. I tried to haggle them down but the most I was able to get them down after hours of negotiations was $54k even. That being said, they gave me $12,500 more for my 2017 than I was expecting…so that more than made up for it on my deal. I had to drive to Salt Lake City to buy it, about an 8 hour drive one way. I made the salesman hold the keys in his pocket overnight and the next day while I made the drive. Indeed, if you don’t buy it, someone else will.

If you HAVE to have a TRD Pro, it is what it is. Totally a seller's market. If you have the resources to either do it yourself or have a good relationship with a local shop, you can get another trim level, probably for less, and add the suspension upgrades yourself, again for less than $54k total.

    4x4 is a main requirements for this purchase. I am coming from a 2006 2wd 4Runner Sr5.

I have looked at SR5 models as well locally, and they are barely below the cost of the Pro.

If you really need the truck get it but if you were looking at the 2022s that is what you really want.

I think the issue with buying now is we don't now if we are at the top of the used market yet. When the market dumps it will be an issue if you need to trade up since you'll be upside down with this truck.

And that is true, I lost blind spot monitoring, parking sensors and a few other nick nacks my upgraded SR5 had. If you can score a platinum for less and do the suspension yourself…that’s hard to beat!

Does that 19 have parking assist? Looking at the black sensor on the front bumper in the photo.. can’t see the bed stamp in that photo….

Curious, what's the cost for adding TRD suspension to a platinum? Ball park.

Just curious why you NEED 4x4 before the 2022 release?

Truck looks clean but that’s 6k more than a brand new Trail 2021 4x4 crewman I was looking at a year ago

Decent deal IMO ... even when market adjusts, doubt this pro would be that upside down, the plats and Pros hold value

Long story short, new hunting lease in the mountains needs 4x4 to access land, and season began early September. Current 4runner can get there, but dicey on the way up. Throw into the mix that now I will be towing an ATV, trailer, and gear... Time for an upgrade.

It’ll cost you a little over three grand from Sparks Parts. You can use a discount code from tundradude34 or gearrunner to save yourself a little coin. I believe the install cost me around 400.79FC6F24-C14F-43EE-96F9-4A1C81662CA3.jpg

I personally would rather have a brand spanking new 2021 Tundra w/Off-Road package then a used 2019 Pro with 40k miles (which is going to need brakes and tires soon). I would think you can still find a new non-Pro 2021 selling at sticker or with a small markup (50-54k). I bought my 2021 Pro new at sticker price (56k) in April. Things have really gotten out of hand in the last 6 months. Good luck.

I think it depends where you are located and how far you are willing to travel, but I wouldn't pay the original MSRP for a 3 year old truck with 38k miles. I would get on the phone and find a new 2021 for around MSRP. Also, if you found a non-Pro, the Trd Pro suspension is great, but you can probably get even more bang for your buck with another kit.

Sounds like you need something quick and the truck you're looking at should be plenty capable without waiting for orders, deliveries, and installation of suspension parts on another model. Don't get me wrong, I'm a mod. kind of guy and just converted my 2016 1794 CM to a TRD Pro (except the interior), but it did take a little while to get everything installed. Best of Luck no matter what decision you make!
