I’m not sure about the Taco but I should have the info on the Tundra. Give me a bit and I’ll check my FSM.

Lmao. My page updated after I wrote my last message. I’ll be looking forward to some pictures. Also, could you take measurements along all three sides of the base for reference. I’m curious to see how they compare to the ‘04 AC.

Ah yes. I spaced about that. Will do. You mean the outside of the whole triangle or the little one that makes up the 3 studs?

Both if possible but don’t pull them off if they’re already installed.

So. Mirrors are wired correctly and as good as they are gonna get form wise. Still need to road test them tomorrow. Bummed I can’t get the top to suck in more but it appears they bow out a bit which kinda sucks so I may have to revisit these later. Wish the blind spot mirrors were able to move independently but these mirrors offer so much more of a view over the stock ones

Honestly until you posted the zoomed in shot I didn't notice that part sticking out. You could always try to use a heat gun to form them back down, or maybe try to Fuze them.

Heat gun. Good idea. I’ll try that after I clamp them and use some fuze. Only worried about water getting in there and going into my door would be the main issue. Haven’t taken a test drive yet but hoping they don’t make any noise with wind at speed.

This is amazing. I'm really shocked that there has been zero third parties out there that have manufactured something for our trucks. I am hopeful with so many new people "discovering" the first gen Tundra, someone would make a tow mirror kit that works with all the electronics. Hell I'd pay $500 for a perfect fit kit.

I have a friend that works with cnc machines and solidworks so I’m wondering if I could get him to make an adapter from 2nd gen tow mirrors to our 1st gen base plate.

05-15 Tacoma aftermarket. I’m actually taking them off since they move quite a bit when folded in and move A LOT when extended and it’s making me sick. I have one limited heated pass mirror that I’ll raptor line white the chrome cover and then try and find a drivers side one as well. I’ll have to revisit these mirrors later. Unfortunately I trashed my oem mirrors so they are gone

Oh, I thought they were Dodge mirrors for some reason. Sorry they aren't working for you, it looked like quite a bit of work. They look badass tho.

Technically they are Dodge Ram style mirrors but these were aftermarket as I wanted a cheap route first. I do like how they look as well as the almost 200% improved more mirrored area

The ones that fit our trucks well are the 98-02 I believe, that's what's on my 01. Only need to drill 1 hole and they go on.

So the conventional wisdom so far is that the dodge mirrors (aftermarket ok?) may fit better on FGT than 2nd Gen Tacoma trail tow mirrors? In terms of lowering LOE to install?

I would say yes, but I've never dealt with the tacoma ones. The dodge ones were extremely easy to do, took under an hour.

It will be a while. My FGT is at Speed Freak’s waiting in line for his special touch. Hasn’t moved in weeks. After my visit today to drop off a group 31 battery (which may be a tough fit) we realized the radiator should get swapped since he will pull it to do water pump and alternator. So the parts hunt continues.

But yeah, I plan to follow this dodge mirror idea and see if maybe Cody just got unlucky assuming 2nd Gen Tacoma mirrors would fit well. I would have picked them over dodge myself without the advice here.

I think the main issue is that the base is just too big. You could take a dremel and cut it down but I really don't think I could get it to fit as well as OEM and I didn't wanna deal with leaks so I gave up. Hopefully you have better luck. The other issue I had was the studs in the mirror were too short to work so I had to replace them with threaded rods and cut to size.

Looks like maybe the base is different.
