Sadly as far as I can see this is why we have Harbor Freight.

I get what he's saying (your grandpa might be my age...) but if he is of the old school guys even cheap tools were made to last.

Now adays i look at it like an investment. How far will my money take me. I'll get the mid grade of things and bank on them lasting.

I went with all Milwaukee brushless M18 tools. Everything i got is an amazing tool, except the chainsaw. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve been cutting down some large trees in my back yard, anything over an 10” trunk, the battery overheats and I can’t use it for 10-20 mins. Only have the first two batteries the kit came with. Maybe my fault for going with a battery chainsaw instead of gas. But it was convenient.

Ive got a Ryobi battery chainsaw that does the same thing. It’s really only good for little stuff.

I am not "Clowning" on HF whatever that even means?
I have not had a single item ever, not one that was worth the gas it required to get from there be worth the price in the end.

Sometimes you have to "modify" a tool to get a job done. Then you probably never use it again. This is where Harbor Freight tools shine.
You can cut the end off of a wrench or heat it up and bend it without crying.

Amazingly no. Only a scratch on the rear and it'll buff out. If we had not gone to dinner in my truck, the truck would have been crushed.

Wow, that's crazy. Glad there was no damage. So since we're talking tools, for that job you're going to need to go with Stihl.

I bought the 1st generation fuel line back in 2013. We have rehabbed 7 houses with them and maintained 4 rentals. All of the batteries still work and only had a multi tool burn up but that was due to sheetrock dust buildup. We blew it out, mailed it in and they sent us a new one. I believe the new fuel tools are the 3rd generation now. You really can’t go wrong with them, and Home Depot has great sales several time a year

I have a ton of HF stuff (more than I like to admit) and almost all of it has worked really well for me. I also research everything I buy like crazy, so I know what I’m getting into before buying. And, yes, the old Sears model where you walk in and get a replace is very nice. Too bad is pretty much only applies to hand tools. They’ve been revamping their business model these last two years now and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. I did see yesterday that they now carry Jackery products for cheaper than Amazon which is pretty nuts.

You must not have purchased their impact sockets. I paid $17 plus tax for a 13pc deep set and they’re bulletproof. I stopped going into the store. It was always $6 flat shipping no matter what you purchased and I would stack 20% coupons all the time. Essentially my entire order was 20% off which easily covered shipping and then some. Oh yeah, their mini mill and lathe are awesome, too.

If I only gonna need a tool for 1 or 2 times, I’ll go HF, or some rough work…A283A267-A303-4699-B9DC-985B88B15E6D.jpg dug all this with HF rotors hammer… and the price is better then rental

Milwaukee FTW! I’m a mechanic and use my stuff hard. They are pretty rugged overall and have an outstanding warranty policy. I’ve broken several being pretty hard on them, and never had to pay for any warranty work, including shipping, as long as it was within the 5 year warranty time.

+1 for Milwaukee fuel M18 by the way. I've got 9 different tools in that family:
    • 1/4" impact driver
    • hammer/driver drill
    • 1/2" Impact
    • job site fan
    • worm-drive circular saw
    • oscillating saw
    • lawn trimmer/edger
    • leaf blower
    • LED work light
    I love them all.

    I have 4 batteries:
    • 9ah
    • 8ah
    • 5ah
    • 3ah
I've only ever needed more than the 9ah when I'm using the blower or on long projects with the impact driver, but I just got the circular saw.

I have Milwaukee and love them. They are not that much more than the cheaper stuff but the batteries last much longer. Check out the Milwaukee cordless vacuum. One of my favorite tools.

One other thing, the Ridgids are not bad but their warranty service sucks; and stuff will break.

Any Dewalt kits available? My last Dewalt drill lasted 15 years. It actually never quit I just wanted more power in an even more compact drill.
