Looking to pay someone to inspect a 2004 Tundra to help me with a purchase. Hoping they could be fairly mechanically inclined and hopefully familiar with pain points on the truck. (And not buy it out from under me!)

I've struck out a few times in the last few weeks on trucks being in the condition people/dealers claim. This will be the 4th that I pay someone to check out, let me know what price you think is fair. I got quotes locally between 50-100 but they want them dropped off.

Turn around time unfortunately has to be fairly quick as these trucks sell fast when they are in good condition.

    Thanks in advanced!

Are you looking for a truck in Madison, WI? Are you located there? It might be pretty hard to find one in that area without significant rust issues (which the 1st gen Tundras often have). Why not look for a truck somewhere in the south and travel there? Rust would be less of an issue.

I'm looking everywhere. I've had tundra's inspected in Wisconsin, Maryland, Colorado, and Arizona at this point. I either find out its in great shape and the dealer/seller plays games, or the frame is in bad shape. Figured I could pay someone on here the money if they wanted it, keeping it in the "family" so to speak.

I'd prefer Arizona, since i have family there and I know that rust isn't an issues there, but not a lot to look at in the mileage I'm looking for.

I live in Madison. Do you simply want the truck inspected for issues. I’ve been a Toyota guy all my life and know them well. Still learning new things about them everyday too.

sorry I didn’t respond. The truck was selling semi quickly and I finally got a hold of a mechanic and the verdict was a lot of rust, broken leafs and sway bar. Not that those parts are hard to replace, just too much rust for the price. I found one in Phoenix that is beat up but rust free!
