    I've been looking through CL but since I haven't looked on it in a while, it seems that many of the ads are actually fake, and no one responds to them. That, and I'm finding that people want WAAAAAAY too much for a mid 80's truck with 250k miles on it.

    Does anyone have any leads in the SATX area on a decent 4x4?

    Elaborate on what you mean by "decent"

    I hate to say it man, but those are kinda hard to find in good condition for cheep. I have three from up here in Colorado 1 that I paid 2grand for with a motor that was about to blow up and the other two sub 1000 each with blown motors. Gotta think 2k for a good rebuild (ok 1k and you do it your self, not hard) but with that said If it is running and driving well and everything is in order on it expect at least 5-7k (Colorado not entirely sure where the market for them is at in TX)

    They are hard to find - I have and 89 that is getting a new 3.4 swapped into it and wouldn't sell it unless someone gave me an over I couldn't refuse. People just don't want to sell them. Mine is in great condition and now with a new motor I will keep it forever. Has 250K on the body and no rust and no issues.

    Supply and demand,
    high demand, low supply =$$$$
    Sadly that's where we are at with the old trucks

    @n2deep do you have a build thread on that guy anywhere? Be cool to see, and I don't want to hijack this thread too much

    Pics of the 89? Its really just stock on 31's for now with a 3.4 going in - maybe someday I will drop on the super charger if I can find one.

    Of fine don't play. I have a buddy with a supercharger laying around. I think last time I checked he wanted 800 for it

    I've seen people ask for up to 15k for early 90s late 80s pickups. I feel your pain, I'd love to get one too.

    When you see one you like on the street just go make an offer, I have had friends do this and people actually sold cars on the spot

    It's still at the shop right now. Here is a pic of the motor being installed.

    @n2deep that thing will be a blast when that's done. Those 3.4s are awesome motors

    My prior point exactly, even needing a head gasket, 2k+ though that is a good starting truck for a 5vz swap like @n2deep

    Yep. Not worth it in my opinion. Having that much money in a 25+ years old vehicle.

    Nope.

    Exactly. The 22R/E/T are solid and worth a little extra. That V6 makes me cringe.

    The 3.0s were rushed through r&d to try and compete with Nissan. the 3.4s are not bad though. And normally a pretty strait forward swap into a 3.0 truck. Same motor mounts, and oil pan set up is the same.

    There is actually one sitting next to my shop that I'm thinking about seeing what they want for it (there is also a side kick that I think would be cool to have) but I know if I bought that truck cheep I could sell it pretty easy. eb080ee4e77491137b36592420de110f_f032f824fdd8acf05a9732bd699c75fc23505ea6.jpg you can just see the topper of the pickup over the bed of my tundra

    Let be honest, the 3.0 is the only bad motor Toyota built. It was underpowered and had HG and over heating problems

    Yeah mine is in great shape - that one is in crappy shape. Should be finished up this week and I can post up some pics. Put in a new clutch and steering box - the only thing it needs now is a new set of shocks.

    Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
    @n2deep
    That is a clean truck! Very nice!

    @TMMTX
    I know your pain I have been looking for decent one here in OKC for a while. I missed out on a 1986 Toyota Pickup 4x4 Flatbed with the 22re motor. They were only asking 2600, nothing was wrong with it. It sold in a few hours...

    I have been eyeballing this one for a while, but I just do not like the fact that it is carbureted.

    https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/5995776281.html

    Then this one's price is a joke. I mean... It is clean and all but Damn.
