I was sure to get a 2017 Tacoma until I test drove it. Totally was disappointed for prob the same reasons as you. Immediately test drive Tundra right after and knew it was for me. I got the 6 seater Crewmax 2wd. Only 800 miles on it but average 17mpg combined. On highway u can get 19-20mpg cruising 75 mph.

Still working on my first tank, currently setting at 12.8 after 1/4 tank. Started with 29 miles on the truck. The one I test drove had 384 but had a deep scratch on the fender to the primer.

those that are saying they are getting 20mpg, probably with a tail wind and downhill... also One of them has the 4.6 and not the 5.7. So incorrect comparison.

Well you'll have a headwind and go uphill going back home... So it evens out...
