Good evening people. I was curious if anyone has the under the rear seat storage for their Crewmax from either Lockerdown or esptruck.com?

The one from esptruck.com is installed by cutting out the carpet and subfloor foam and inserting it in and replacing the seats back to the position they are from the factory? My question on those is how secure is it, it seems like being its not welded into place that someone could just remove the rear seats and lift it out and be gone with it. That and does it rattle while driving being it seems it just drops in.

The one from Lockerdown seems like the better unit albeit at nearly twice the price ($1200). Nothing has to be cut in the truck, but it basically raises the rear seat around 3 inches. My question is how much of an issue is that for people that ride in the rear seat regularly, I have friends and family members that are 6'4". I own their console safe and it is the gold standard in my opinion.

Any insight from anyone who actually owns one of these would be greatly appreciated as I am debating on which one to purchase.

I have the ESP long box in my 2018 CM, it is attached to the new rails that you replace the factory ones with with 2 bolts in the bottom of the box as well as the 4 seat bracket bolts, thus can not be easily removed. Now, the 3 lid one, had in my 2016 CM, is only attached by the 4 seat brackets, thus could be easier to remove. You can watch the install video to see the attachment points. As a side note, when I installed my Long Box in my 2018 CM, I did not put the foam back in under the seats, got a lot more under seat storage, just didn't cut the back part of the carpet cut until I had the box in place so that I could have the carpet roll ul to the lid to act as padding and give a finished look.

Just like with product, if they have enough time, they will get into it. Just because ours is made from aluminum, does not mean that it is easily pryed. We did not go with a combination type lock because while that lock may look cool on the outside, it is a very unsecure lock. The cam is very thin and flimsy as you can see from the picture above. Our hinges that we use would only be able to be removed with a grinder. I have had 2 different hinges since we first designed these boxes. The hinge we use is a steel hinge with a stainless steel hinge pin that is pressed in. I have put a hinge in a vice and tried to drive the pin out with a drift and a hammer and I could not get it to move. Mr Green is correct as far as being able to remove the seats and take the box out. It is bolted to the seat rails, so it would have to be open to remove the box. So bottom line, your regular hoodrat is going to smash your window, go to the console and rifle through that and the glove box. They aren't going to want to stick around to start really looking around your truck.

For the price have you considered a Diamondback bed cover? You could pry these open to but it gives you more options and a thief would have to make a choice of what they are breaking into.

I’ve got the lockerdown console vault in my 2015 dc and I think it would take a torch to open it,they cost more than the other brand but just my opinion

I have a leer tonneau cover on it already. I am looking for something for inside the truck.

I have the console vault in mine as well and it is solid, it would take a torch to open it.

Lockerdown does. It's made of steel first of all, and it has extra steel around the under lip of the lid to block someone from using a pry bar. As others have stated, if a person has the time, tools and location, they will get into anything you have. But for someone doing a smash and grab, it will stop them in their tracks. I am just trying to find real user experience with the two I listed above and for the reasons I stated in the original post.

I have the Lock'er Down center console safe and love it. It is built a lot better than Console Vault. Great product and I have the electronic lock on mine.
