A couple more of the Diamondback/Yakima overhaul set up. Towing the contractor trailer to work this morning in the first snow of the season. Loving this cover!

For anyone with a LB and camper shell, where did you get yours? I haven't called around because I don't have the funds for it but to my eye it seems ARE is the only company that makes a high or mid rise shell for a long bed 2.5 gen. Is that true?

 

I just got an ARE high rise with a lumber rack. I wasn’t super impressed with ARE quality or customer service if you can find one at another company I would go with them. My old 8ft tundra had a snug top and it seemed more solid in my opinion. Not as tall but better quality overall.

Hey thanks and it was a snugtop. It came on the truck when I bought it. It didn’t have rack rails installed so I used some suction cup racks off Amazon and added a strap with a j hook at the bottom so I wouldn’t have to drill. They supported some heavy kayaks without failing. I love this truck for camping I needed an 8ft bed because I’m 6ft7 and wouldn’t be able to sleep comfortably in anything less. I built a wood bed platform with drawers in the bad to sleep on. I’ll post some pics when I find them.

 

Nice!! That’s what I’m thinking…small bed/cot, simple storage, kayak up top, etc!! Ready for adventure!!

Added the 8ft Ironman 4x4 awning and tent with quick detach mounts so I can move it from the side to the rear. The mounts are expensive for what they are but worked great and beat wrenching it every time.

 

Do the newer LBs rear cab window have the ability to go down? Just wondering For camping in the cold and sleeping in the bed it may be good to roll rear window down n pump some heat in from the front cab area.

 

Mine is a slider on a 2019. Idk how much heat you’d actually get unless you blocked the gaps and installed a fan to blow it back there. I run a heavy duty down sleeping bag and if it’s really cold I have some usb plug in heaters that I got off Amazon. They’re made to sew into clothing for like a heated vest or jacket but they work great as a bag warmer.

 

The double cab does not have a roll down back window, no.

The old 06 model did.

 

Just joined the forum. Heres my 2019 DCLB. Found it sitting on a small town lot. 45k miles, $40k. I searched for over a year to find this one in SR5 trim.

As a matter of fact, the wheels will be available in a week or so. Just got the gunmetal Vision Nemesis in. Well, three are here, the fourth is on vacation somewhere out of state. Should find it’s way here 8n a day or so.

Wife is trying to talk me out of the LB. Told her it opens some options for camping like Blueox’s above set up…& maybe making some $ after I retire on 8/1 by “hauling items for the mob”….lol…fellow deadheads u know the lyric from West LA Fadeaway!

I see some LBs set up with some type of towing rig in the bed…maybe for trailering cars??
Maybe also for a lil grass cutting retirement gig or something.

 

I bought the LB for hauling purposes. Sometimes I drive a couple hundred miles to small sawmills to buy lumber for my woodworking addiction. Being able to close the tailgate and roll over the tonneau makes it easier to keep that expensive stuff from getting wet and warping.

I'm confused. This thread is in the caps and tonneau section, but doesn't seem to have much to do with caps and tonneau covers.

Anyway, does anyone have or know who sells a hard, hinged, one piece tonneau for an 8' bed? I used to have an Undercover on the CM and had a Century cap on the last DCLB. I have a DCLB again and considering a hinged hard tonneau like the undercover, but I only come up with what looks like 4 piece foldable covers for 8' beds.

this is that tow device I’m seeing in some of the LBs for sale….anyone familiar w this apparatus?? I wud rather not buy something that has been towing too much…

 

Yep, that looks like the mounting rails for a 5th wheel.

This is the 2015 SR (in 2017). Side steps, trailer brake controller, intermittent wiper stalk and Century cap. It was a basic cap with no liner and slider windows with screens. It fit great, never moved and never leaked. I miss that truck, sorry I traded it in (for a frikkin van!). The SR looks good in black, with the black bumpers and all black interior plastics.
But, I'm into a white 2021 now. Plan on keeping it forever. I'll learn to like the white. Might come in handy if I ever move to AZ. Not sure if I'll do a toolbox and hard flip cover, another cap, or farmer my own contraption together.
