I am so envy, I wanted a 8' bed. but I live in the bay area, can't find parking with that long truck. So i got the 6' bed.

I would have bought that truck in a minute. When i asked the salesman about one, he said he's only seen one on the lot since he's worked there and it would have to be special ordered if i wanted one. Oh well, still love my slightly shorter D/C. :)

Yeah I’ve been looking for one for a while now so it looks like I’m going to have to special order one. Only issue is I’m not sure I can shoot for the 10% off MSRP like most do when purchasing a new Tundra with a special order

Awesome. Very nice rig. That’s my plan, I’ll add skid plates and sway bars later on

Not sure about that as well, but i dealt with at least 3 dealers when shopping for my truck, and got lots of different prices and attitudes when trying to negotiate. Shop around for what you really want and don't back down. They tried to bully me into a price i wasn't comfortable with and i walked. They called me the next day and accepted my offer. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

I ordered a 2020 double cab long bed that should be coming in the next few days (maybe today!). I was a little disappointed with the lack of the TRD offroad package initially but decided I would be paying for things I didn't really want. Wheels and suspension that I would change anyway...stickers on the bed...meh. The one thing I really wanted was the LED headlights, so I just ordered those and they're sitting here waiting for the truck to arrive

I recently installed an 8 foot LEER 100R on the 2002.

I replaced the LEER with a DCU from ARE

That’s awesome, please report back with pics once it come in. I was the same with the TRD not being avail for the 20’s but figured the things I really want I’ll just add later. I’m very curious how you did on pricing? We’re you able to get anything off of MSRP with the special order?

Sure, will get some pics up as soon as it comes in. From what I've read, I did alright on pricing. It was a difficult to ask for a discount on a custom order for such a rare cab/bed configuration, but I did it anyway. I went in and asked what they could do off of MSRP (I bought my previous Tundra new from this dealership so I had somewhat of a relationship with them). The sales guy initially came back from the manager with a $1k discount and "KBB instant cash value" for my 2016 Tundra which was $19k. I managed to negotiate to a $2k discount and +$2k on the trade ($21k). I have since sold my Tundra private party for $27k... so my plan now is to go in and see if they will still honor $4k off the bottom line without the trade-in. That would be just under 10% off MSRP. Worst case I will get the $2k discount. On a related note, you'll be given whatever incentive is available when the truck arrives, and they don't advertise them in advance. I hope this helps

I heard from a snugtop dealer this week that there are really very very few options left for camper shells for long bed-ers, is that true? i have an old tonneau cover in there and I would like keep my stuff away from rain and snow, was looking at a snugtop sport hi liner but thats about 3.6k in price, Its my personal truck not a work truck and just need the cheapest even used shell to really be able to use the bed dry, any suggestions? i have a lot of expense coming up for the truck new tires, cameras, remote start, ask me about it, would like not to spend much on the campershell/topper/cap actually If possible...just dont know where I can find a balck shell for my long bed truck

Talk about luck. 2020 with most options except leather. Some guy custom ordered it and didn’t want it. Arrived at dealer day before. When ready to drive off lot several salesman came up and said they didn’t even think you could get a long bed with the TRD package.

I mainly use mine for work but have taken it on dirt and unpaved roads. Only thing you should watch out for is turn radius. Long beds are like a boat. With the right setup, you should be ok to drive it anywhere.

Four Wheel Camper Grandby out back.
I've taken my 2018 TRD long bed, with a FWC Grandby out back on some very challenging "roads" here in Idaho. Luckily, I didn't have any oncoming traffic nor did I have to divert or turn around on those single tracks. There was some minor rock crawling as well. The long bed didn't inhibit my ability to get "there".

My biggest concern was the Rocky Mountain "pinstriping" I was doing to my new truck as I proceeded. I cringed every time I heard that screech to my left and then to my right! But, that's what this truck is designed to do. I know how to handle a dual action and buffer and was able to remove my battle scars.

As an Overlander, it provides the extra space that I always wished I had on my previous Chevy 6.5 ft bed. It's a perfect match for the Grandby and it's a combination that I will keep long-term. Yes, size matters!

I would consider replacing my 4WD 2002 RCLB with a 2nd gen 4WD RCLB like this one.
