I didn’t think I needed this until I read this thread. What about purchasing the factory has door lock from Toyota? Anyone have an idea what part numbers are needed?

that's a great idea if we can have the parts number and wiring diagram, it can be overwhelming but definitely rewarding

Bumping this b/c the one we used on our Sequoia gets stuck and then throws a code each time we refill the tank. Hopefully someone found one that fits?

In that case...it makes even less sense to me. I can almost see how it makes sense being a trim thing, but the difference in powertrain makes no sense. Oh well.

Need that big battery for more electricity to run the fuel door.

It's all part of the plan. When they can finance for 84 months, a lot of people think they can "afford" a lot more. The manufacturers start incentivizing the purchase of higher end models like this when they're not making a profit on volume. Or something.

personally i prefer no locking gas door due to winters. ive see too many frozen shut when the locking shaft is frozen by ice. also if they are going to steal you gas i rather they just open the gas door than punch a hole in the tank

I wouldn't be shocked if we see gas tank shields in the same way that cat shields are super common now.

True, but the Tundra has a long & narrow one as well. Mine has a plastic trim/skid under it at current. I would suspect that a shield could be made to replace that and mount in the same way. Who knows though...I'm no engineer. lol.

It's where the Auto Start/Stop switch is, they removed for Hybrids and had to fill that spot with something to give us Hybrid owners a warm and fuzzy feeling... :)

Toyo Dealer Service Writer and Part Mgr told me to only use an aftermarket cap made by STANT. Thats what they sell if an owner requests one. I tried two off-brands from Amazon that threw codes before knowing this. The Dealer gets $33 for them but O'Reilly has them for $17. No codes on it for over 10 starts now.

Do you have a specific part number on that? It seems Stant has several to choose from. -thx

No. Already tossed the pkg/paper. Just stop in. They’ll look it up.

LOL... as usual there is no application chart for these Stant caps. Not even on the Stant website. They have a parts locator link but it is totally non-functional. I have left an inquiry with them online. If I hear back I'll post the result.

Toyo dealer could give you the Stant part number. They order them for custs requesting one. I didn’t even know a locking gas door was avail on a Tundra as I never looked at Hybrids and never saw it listed. Wish that would have been in the packages for all trims.
