How does tire load capacity factor into the load cap of wheel for a combined assembled load capacity?

    Today's reminder of tire safety.

I cant comment to a combined relationship, but I have seen the top video before. The guy just mindless inflating the tire until well over pressurized. Reminds me of how not to take about your front shocks lol.

Stumbled on this thread looking for a light wheel in 5x150 pattern obviously that has a max back spacing of 4.75. Volks 0 offset on the 9.5 won’t get me what I need, srs f5 doesn’t have larger than a 16 in a 5x150 etc. looking for a 17 or 18 inch wheel. Method 315 is my next choice, but just seeing if I can shave some lbs with other options

FN is supposedly making a run soon of their wheels for our trucks. Believe it was @Elduder that set it up and made a post? They will be lighter than the methods by a few pounds.

I have a set of volk te37xt wheels on order. Should be here in October. I figured the lighter wheels would help since I want to go to a larger tire size. They’ll also match the forged advans I have on my rx7

I ordered from showstoppers. They had black 5x150 sets in stock, but I wanted bronze.

I will second the FN rims and Dustin is a great guy. I had a set on a 2nd Tacoma and did a lot of long distance towing with zero issues. Sorry OP but I can’t attest to Offroad durability. They were super light (22ish pounds for 17’s) and I noticed a slight increase in mpg’s. The factory rims were about 28 pounds.

What color is your Tundra? I am also thinking about ordering the TE37XT as well. I saw that they make them in 18 with a +20 offset. I have a Voodoo Blue an have been debating between bronze, black and potentially white...which I think you can get on special order. If you don't mind me asking...what was your time frame for delivery.

My truck is midnight black metallic. When I ordered they only had 0 offset available for the shipment they have arriving on October. I would have preferred +20, but I think 0 offset will look good too. I’m hoping I can fit 295/70/18 tires without rubbing. Planning to run the toytec aluma kit, spc ucas, and get cmc done

has anyone found light wheels that are also hub-centric? all the sweet wheels (gram lights, volks, etc) are lug centric. the methods are heavier but at least their hub centric. FN BFDs would be a no brainer except their width and offset make the tires stick out too far for my taste and I don't want to add fender flares

I think you'll find the BFG KM3 and the Cooper STT Pro to be the lightest. As for most durable between the 2 :notsure:. I've kinda decided I like the KM3 the best. But I never even got a flat when I had Cooper's. I've also run Yoko G 003s.

I could be wrong (I don't sell Method wheels), but I believe the 313 is discontinued. Also, my understanding from some of my dealers who sell Method wheels and customers who own or owned Method wheels is that brake caliper clearance on the Tundra can be an issue with Method 17" wheels - particularly the positive offset 17" Method wheels. Stick on wheel weights will hit the brake calipers with certain 17" Method wheels, so the wheels can only be balanced statically (as opposed to dynamically, i.e. weights can only be attached to the rear flange instead of on dual planes with weights behind the spokes). Dynamic wheel balancing is preferred to static balancing.

If you're looking for a strong, relatively light weight 17" wheel that will fit a third gen Tundra we offer a wheel that is approximately 24lbs and was built to fit over the Tundra brakes (it's also hub centric for the 95mm hubs on the third gen Tundra):

    Wheel Weight: 24lbs (approximate)

I agree that you'll be hard pressed to get a clear answer, but if money isn't a problem I would be looking at forged wheels.

90% of us would find any cast wheel plenty strong for it's application. More important, is buying from a reputable company with good manufacturing processes and QC. You can learn a lot about a company by researching and/or talking to them.

For me, I chose KMC Mesa Forged Beadlocks for my Tundra. 26 lbs per wheel makes it one of the lightest and proven beadlocks you'll find. Most beadlocks, forged or not, scale at 30+ lbs. Innov8 wheels, which are also pretty coveted, weigh 35 lbs for an equivalent size G600 and G400. I do like the anodized gold color though.

Here's my KMC Mesa Forged Beadlock "Blank" load rate 3700lbs at 29lbs per wheel. KMC don't offer them for 2nd Gen Tundra I had it drilled and bored

Awesome! Nice that you were able to get them drilled for the Tundra hubs. The only thing for me was the 108mm bore vs the 3rd gen's 95mm but I've never had any issues using good hub rings. Maybe it'll be hub centric if/when I upgrade to some Camburg hubs.
