Hey I’ve found a few threads on 3” level vs bilstein 5100. I plan on going with the 17” methods and 35 tire. Anyone else do this with sport model? Are there any advantages of already having the trd sport suspension? Leveling kit and uca, or replace my suspension? It’s my daily driver, but I like off roading in Big Bear!

I have spacers and they work fine for me. I am off-road on construction sites every day, and never had any issues for 70,000 miles now. But, everyone here will say to replace the suspension; I am not going to argue with anyone about it - just saying that spacers is an option and it works fine for me. You can get Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for not a whole lot more than what the spacers will cost, so I am not against that idea either.

For TRD sport, I think lowered would look nice. Like a Tacoma X-Runner. Anyone remember those? Cool looking sports trucks.

Did you guys do upper control arms with the spacers? Also what’s your tire and wheel set up?

here is my sport. Swapped out suspension for icon stage 3. With ucas but probably wasn’t needed since it was only 2.5-3 inches of lift. I felt removing sway bars was the better route to go for off-road. Tires are 35x12.5

I did not replace UCA. Running stock 20" Sport wheels but went up 2 sizes in sidewall to 275/65/20. I had to remove the front mud flaps (the little ones under the bumper) and bend the skid plate just a little bit to get rid of slight rubbing.
    Rough Country 3/1.5 spacer.

Another option. Bilstein 6112 set at 1.9” in the front. Bilstein 5160 in rear with no rear lift. Tire size: 285/70r18 (34” x 11.5”). I wheel in Big Bear once a month, at least.

Your trucks awesome! I’m trying to keep the lift under 1k. Did you notice a big difference taking off the sway bars?

I really like your set up. Truck looks bad ass! I gotta find more trails in Big Bear. Used to own Land Rover+Range I used to like taking on that trail up knickerbocker. Are you in Highland area?

Thanks! On road absolutely! Hahah truck is heavy so a lot of lean while cornering. Having that sport suspension it handled those corners like a sports car ahaha. Totally had to relearn to drive it. I kept them just in case... but off road it’s a completely different animal. And since we are on the trails about every weekend I don’t wanna take them on and off. I’d say give it a whirl.

Your truck is a beauty! Have you measured from center cap to top of wheel well. Front looks a tad high but may be just my bad eyes? I’m looking at doing this same setup.

@Boerseun with your setup...have you had any issues with rubbing UCA or swaybar?? I have identical setup and haven’t rubbed skid plate yet, I am running General Grabbers in the same size

@Brettstation37 , I am not rubbing the UCA - there is about 1/2" clearance. I don't think that the sway bar ever rubs, but the skid plate did. I rolled the edge over by wacking it with a rubber mallet until it was about flush with the sway bar. Only had to move the edge back an inch or so where it sticked out past the sway bar. Driving around on construction sites through ruts and swales I go through full articulation all the time, and never have any issues.

I'm becoming a fan of the Sport package. I like the paint matched bumpers and grills, and has the bones for for doing mild to wild suspension changes. Plus who wouldn't dig the double scoop?

Wish it worked, but it adds a little more of an aggressive look, compliments all the time...mines black and the red sway bars stick out like a sore thumb

I love this model. I bought it mid pandemic while inventory was low, so I was so stoked to see it was the 4x4 sport when dealer called me to check it out. A lot of people on here don’t like the scoop, but I really dig that and no chrome. I just plastidipped the badges black. Everyone in this thread really have nice set ups on their sports. Can’t wait to do the tires and wheels.
