Looking for something in a hard hitting round such as 45-70 etc. Any particular models/brands?

None of these are mine, they are custom made at a local gun shop in Anchorage, but they do shipping. Wild west guns is the name of the shop.guide-custom.jpg Co-Pilot-TD.jpg 44-Mag-Broken-Down-Banner-1.jpg

Take a look at the Marlin 1895. Older models with the JM-marked barrels are more sought after than newer production. There were bad batches of post-JM-marked barrels, but I believe they have resolved those issues with current production.

The hard part about rifles like those is they are built to be used but are too beautiful to be handled without regard. I'd be too focused on rubbing it against limbs and debris that I'd miss the wildlife I was after!

What are you using it for, what type of game ? Or just to have.... Marlins are great, older the better- Jm stamp on barrel next to receiver on left side. Otherwise Rem production and risky functionality.
The 45-70s are a real power house capability. Do you reload? Becouse you can go from mouse to moose. I’ve had a few- they are awesome, yet overkill for most.

I much prefer my 375 Winchester’s as they are flatter shooting and plenty of power for most anything. Next is my 45 colt and 44 mag levers.... very versatile.

Yet if versatility is what you want, get a 357 mag lever action rifle. If I could only have one - that would be close to top of the list. As I can plink paper w/38s and shoot squirrels or small game/ then crank up the power to 357 mag specialty ammo and get 2200 FPS for Mid size game like deer out to 100 yards. Look up Colonel Doug Wesson back in the 30s and what he did with a 357 S&W! Grizzly/Moose and so on.

I hope this helps lever your decision

A 45 colt, 44 mag and 357 mag. Deadly on deer and cans out to 100 yards

I agree, I couldn't use something like that in the bush. Something like those you'd just take it out of the cabinet, look at it, show it to your buddy, and then put it back in the gun cabinet. Maybe go shoot it on sunny days, right after you're done driving the convertible sports car! Lol

I've had my eye on the 1894 Dark in 44 mag for suppressed shooting. Having a hard time between that and a custom threaded route. The wood stocks look so much better on a lever-action in my opinion.

Check the build link in my signature.
One of these days I’ll pick up a 357 lever. Though the fact you really can’t run good carbine loads in an accompanying pistol does sort of temper the whole idea. Yes, I know I can run the pistol loads in the carbine, so it’ll have to be something I experiment with.

I have a 45/70 Henry that I use and really like. I also have a Winchester 94 big bore 375 but it's unfired and will probably stay that way.Screenshot_20210528-195605~2.jpg

My Brother has that same 94 Big Bore, a xlr- nice looking and sleek to carry. He shot a massive 12 point 250lb Ohio corn fed buck at 120 yards with it. Buckets of blood for 20 yard... DRT.
