Let's Talk Knives

Finished this one today. It’s a Christmas gift from the client for his daughter.
Purple Heart scales, with 15n20/1084 Damascus That’s a very old design from Old Timer, called ‘the thumb’. Still being made in China and sold at Walmart for about $25.00, lol! Regardless of the history of the design, it’s a very useful shape and looks absolutely cool.

 

I thought it looked familiar, yet not.
Run that edge all the way to the back of the blade, and add a little jimping on top, and that would be one hell of a hunting knife.

 

Casey, you and your family are some of the very rare folks that don’t prefer to have a ricaso on skinner knives. But regardless of what is ‘common’, I always ask for clear direction about it!
Because of the deep finger groove on the spine, gimping would be a little bit redundant. It lends itself to a very secure grip with either the forefinger or the thumb in there.

I will build it how you want!

True - that one does have a good spot for purchase.

And what can I say about the ricaso - I like to be able to use every mm of the blade (and find it eaiser to sharpen too).

 

I was going to say, blade looks like my dad's old hunting knife. He's had it for 50+ years. Great blade shape for a hunting knife.

 

Couldn’t help myself and added a RT filet knife to the family for our fishing trips. Doesn’t hurt that Ray sourced the Cholla for the handle a few miles from our house!

Was pleasantly surprised by this knife from Olight. Got it during the christmas special while gift shopping and getting a laser sight. Came with case, cloth, and a nifty coin.
