Let's Talk Knives

I’ve always liked knives and bought them every so often over the years but not anything special other than a Griptilian which is about 25 years old +/-. This fall I found a factory second para 3 for a good price and that started me down the rabbit hole.

Top left, beige. Is that one of the Hogue Sig knives?

 

Yes, it is one of my work edc knives. I am really happy with it super sharp and it carries really well. I grabbed it around Xmas for 135ish it was like 70 bucks off.

 

Nice!!! I have a Hogue Deka and its easily one of my favorite carries. I've looked at those Hogue Sig autos a few times but I must have missed that sale, at the price you paid you absolutely had to buy it.

 

Funny story about that price i was in a work white elephant gift exchange with a 50 dollar limit i ignored the limit and bought 2 one for me and one for gift exchange. It could not have gone to a better co worker a guy with 4 kids who's wife passed a few months before it was a great thing for him to get that knife.

 

Figured I'd dip my toe into the waters of higher-end knives. Benchmade Phaeton OTF, with custom Cthulhu icon (same as on my bumpers and wheels). I have a feeling this might turn into an addiction...

Was going through my stuff, trying to get some stuff organized and found this gem... My dad turned in his lids and got this for me decades ago... time to see about cleaning her up and getting some color back.

 

And momma gave me this after he passed. It was in his toolbox. So this too will be cleaned up and put somewhere safe. Has a compass in the handle.

 

I scored this new PM2 at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg Pa. at a great price.
This will be my third Spyderco with Micarta and Cru Wear. There’s just something about the warm feeling of the canvas Micarta that I like. The Cru Wear Blade is also one of my favorites from Spyderco.

I’ve been looking at this knife for quite a while. Giant Mouse Nazca Green Canvas Micarta / M390 Microclean.
Initial impressions, great fit, finish and very smooth action.
This is my first but not my last Giant Mouse knife. One of my favorite dealers is going out of business unfortunately and I was able to get it at a great price.

 

The knife is finished but I still need to make the sheath.
Mosaic Damascus blade with maroon/linen micarta scales. Hidden lanyard hole. This one is a commission piece and not available

 

Finished the sheath for this Nessmuck knife. A few notes about my sheaths. I stitch the belt loops instead of riveting to prevent scratches on the blades and all the stitching is double stitched and I lay the stitches into a shallow groove in the leather to keep them from getting abraded.

 

If you wish to restore the blade, I can explain the process. It’s very easy, very inexpensive and you can do it yourself in your kitchen.
A light coating of oil will prevent this oxidation also.

 

I have not yet made an oyster knife. Yours will be my first. I have a little bit of trepidation about making a knife intended to be used as a prybar!

I've got no doubt anything you make would be twice as strong as anything you can get commercially.

 

this table project interfered considerably with my knife making. I absolutely refused to do anything that would cause metal dust or grit in my shop until after the table was completed and moved inside the house.

 

And, after that black walnut dinner table was finished, I needed to build a little reloading station for ammunition. All the stuff was stored in tubs and crates (for years).

 

Looks better than tubs! HA!!!

Picked up this vintage CRK Large Sebenza 21 for a great price yesterday.

I have a couple mice (GiantMouse Knives) in the mail heading my way.
I’ll post some pictures when they show up.

 

I need to know more about this table. Where did you get those legs?
