What Deals did you score over the last week? At Midway USA I bought a Manix 2 Spy27 for $137, Sharpmaker for $72, Manix 2 Cru Carta for $153 (Backordered) At Cutlery Shoppe I bought Tenacious M4 for $65 and a Tenacious with black combo blade for $30.00

There were and still are some great deals out there.

Sorry, my pictures were on my phone and not the computer. I only received the Manix 2 Spy27 and the Sharpmaker. The Cru Carta is back ordered and the Tenacious’s are to be delivered on Tuesday. But… I did pick up some mini toolboxes from Harbor Freight and some $10 mouse pads for less than $1.00 each from Staples, Which my wife cut vinyl out for on her Cricut.

I am still trying to find my prized knife, which was a skoal giveaway one... more to follow on that...

Finally got unpacked and found most of my knives. A couple key ones are missing but thats because they are in the truck or elsewhere.

First up, my fixed blades. All bought with a specific purpose. The next one up will be the most used one and thats the one I am saving my money for. I need a real boning/camp knife so I stop trashing my other knives.

    upload_2024-12-6_21-56-55.png

    My folding knives:

    upload_2024-12-6_21-57-13.png

and my safe queens. The Cutco Kbar was my fathers and one he was damn proud of and the other was his f around knife. both stay mostly locked up these days:

    upload_2024-12-6_21-58-11.png

    upload_2024-12-6_21-58-21.png

Other than the 2-3 missing from these photos, I am done buying knives with one major exception. once I have that, my collection will be nearly complete.

Also, for anyone looking for affordable kitchen knives, I highly recommend these. I buy a new set every year for under $20 and they do work. I break down a lot of meat and vegitables and they hold up. For the price, I dont bother with maintaining them. The only thing I dont do is dishwasher them. the circled ones I use the most in breaking down chickens or cutting veggies.

This makes me sad. I don’t want to understand a culture that accepts throw away knives. I do understand how it happens but it seems like we should rebel against it.
My guess is that these are foreign. If we indulge this, aren’t we helping to build their economy?

This is an excellent point and one I truly hope more people lean towards your line of thinking. Hell, I was just in my messages looking for mine with you. It has been a while, but the knife I still think about every day is the camp one you and I discussed. Although my goal is to have you make a custom one for me, this knife is the one I refer to as saving my money for.

That said, I hate the idea of throw away knives. I do it, because the price makes it hard not to and they get recycled. some go to the camper, others go to friends/family needing a type of knife. I am really hard on the two I circled. They get used daily and i break down a lot of my own meat. this is why I want a higher quality knife, but at less than $20, this was my 4th year buying a set.

I could talk over a cigar on this topic because I dont like what I do, but I get why i do it.

On Saturday afternoon, I stopped by a place called "Country Knives" located in Gordanville Pa. which is just outside Intercourse in Lancaster Pa.
I got there at 4:00 and they closed at 4:30 so I did not have much to look around. I mostly looked at the Spyderco selection which was amazing to say the least.
They typically have 4 of every model available and even some that are not available. I could spend all day there and still not see everything they have to offer.
On top of having an amazing selection, the customer service was impressive. I am not sure of his name, but the 20 year Nephew of the owners was the gentleman that helped me. I was very impressed with the amount of knowledge and details he had about the Spyderco knives as well as any others I asked about.
The only negative is their prices match Spyderco factory, but they do not mark down as Spyderco does with their closeouts.
If anyone is in the Lancaster Pa. area and has some time, I recommend a visit to Country Knives.

Completed this chef’s knife. The blade steel is from canister Damascus where I filled the canister with pieces of bandsaw blades. The handle scales are a slice of walnut where the black walnut was grafted to English walnut IMG_2215.jpg IMG_2216.jpg IMG_2217.jpg

It’s not a very dynamic pattern but that’s part of the fun of doing canister Damascus.
Kinda like filling a shoebox with Christmas ornaments and glue and then stomping on it till the glue dries. You sometimes get a surprise!
