It's nice that the black headlights with turn signals started showing up again in the last 4 years. They were super hard to come by before.

    Good looking truck.

Nope, it's really a shame these trucks don't get much attention. I have the same ones but found on Ebay a while back, took the buckets apart to install projectors and paint the rest black. I really like the ember on the signals against the black background.

Same here with the amber makes them stand out. How hard was it to take on the projector project.

Hardest part was finding a day when the wife was out, if she saw me sticking headlights in the oven all hell would break loose!

It's a game of patience. Tricky part is once you have the lenses off you need to install them on the truck to clock the projectors and check the aim, them take them off and seal the lenses back on. I made it a weekend project mostly because I needed daylight to install the harness and nighttime to set the aim. Pretty easy really.

Nice truck! Looks like you have the 6 inch RCD lift kit in the front. Does it have a body lift as well? Did you buy the truck with it lifted all ready? If so, that's a good find. I have the same lift kit on my 03 access cab. It is a very well designed and quality lift kit.

Thank you. Yeah the lift was already in it so I’m not sure of the brand. It does have a body lift as well. Looks like 3” there. I haven’t measured anything yet. The thing is really up there.

From what it looks like in the pic it's the RCD. Does the drop bracket look like this? It should also have twin link anti-compression struts. If you can see these two main components it is the rcd lift. If so that's a good find. If you bought that lift kit it's about $2,500 and if you paid to have it installed the estimated install time is 13 hours. Do you know if your truck has been re-geared for the 35 inch tires?20180814_162123.jpg 20180814_162201.jpg

Hey thank you! Yes it does have the drop down brackets just like yours. Everything looks exactly the same.
I can’t say if it has been regeared. It doesn’t seem to struggle at all is all I can say. It’s a lot faster and has a lot more power than my 98 4Runner had on stock wheels. What is the stock gearing on one of these trucks?
The previous owner has 3 switches installed also. I have no idea what they are for. Not sure if he had some off road lights or if he had some aftermarket lockers put in there

Right on. I'm not sure what size gear's the 05 has. But if it doesn't feel sluggish and the shift points seem to be correct then it probably has been re-geared. Do the switches do anything when you push them? Do you see any lights turn on or hear anything? Your best case scenario would be if one switch operates an air compressor and the other two switches operate front and rear Locker. Have you seen an air compressor on the truck? Or even a small blue airline tapped into the diff?

I believe factory 05 double cab had 4.10 gears. The older Tundras with the 4 speed auto normally had 3.91 gears.

look at the axle code it’s probaly A03A (3.91 open diff) that’s what every double cab except for one I’ve encountered has been. A01A is 4.10 open diff these are the only two codes I’ve actually pulled gears on to verify so I can’t say on other axle codes but it seems tundras and sequoias have different gear codes on these than previous Toyota’s.

That's interesting, I wonder if theres a regional thing at play. I've seen lots of 05-06 DCs with 4.10.

The cool guys run run 4.56 anyway
