That's similar to how the back window was on my last truck, i had that style door but only one handle in the middle. It had a piece of weatherstrip along the bottom that extended over each side an inch or so to cover that gap.

Yea.I am going to trim some of the stripping that was installed and put a larger one that goes horizontally across the door. just need to take some measurements later.

My 2nd Gen with the ARE Overland....but windoors on the sides and a slider in between the topper and front cab (with its own slider) so I have a pass through for stuff.

My 1st Gen Tundra Stepside with a Century camper shell. I had to travel over eight hours to rescue this rare shell. I had it painted at Maaco, and a total investment of $1200. I’m pretty happy with it.
I’m looking to add roof rack to it. Any suggestions? Thanks.DFC14D04-F354-4E64-8734-E4DD02DBF7AC.jpg

I've been tweaking the cap a bit since it was installed. Adjusted the latches on the back window to get it to sit and close better (still a bit of a gap on the bottom seal, against the tailgate in the middle of the window) and adjusting the side windoors to latch more tightly.
Ran wiring for the little LED light in the cap to work as the OEM cargo lamp. I have some LED strips to install inside as well for camping, they will hot all the time.

Interesting, it seems on the 18+ trucks, the in cab cargo lamp switch turns off the lights but pulling the ground. The lights get 12v hot all time, just the ground "times out". Makes it nice to only have to run 1 hot wire back.

Put down a bedrug (the cut your own option, so no cutouts for wheel wells) for the pups and have enough left over to put on the tailgate. All coming together slowly.

Had a similar setup in my last truck that worked fantastic. Even more room for activities in the Tundra!

What's that fan you have propped in the rear slider?

Radiator fan used to pull air in the front window to get some airflow for the dogs. Worked well when going slow/stop and go.

It's just a 14" radiator no-name fan from Amazon. Cheap and worked well, but it pulls a good bit of power. It comes with mounts (to mount to a radiator), i ended up just attaching it to the metal framing around the window. The window could still slide closed behind the fan when it wasn't being used.

Yes, mine looks the same on my 21 crew I had installed last week. Honestly, I expected a much better fit on all the windows/doors. I’d pay double for the cap if I didn’t have to now think of ways to engineer the Windoors to properly close all the way so the weather strips fully make contact.

I'm interested in seeing what you come up with for the tailgate window.

I posted my cap and build in 2.5 gen forum but here she is:

I had to mess with that too. I removed the plastic spacers that are on the windows themselves that sit against the seal. Next you can adjust the latch so as you turn the handle it will pull the windoor in a bit to get a more tight seal. both of mine also had bowed frames at the bottom, so the bottom part of the frame came up in hte middle a bit. Drivers side i just pushed down really hard on to flatten it. Passenger side was up so much it was contacting the windoor. i took out the bottom frame screws and pushed down to get it to lay flat, then put the screws back in, all better.

All the adjustments take 30 min or so, just annoying to have to do them at all on something that costs so much money.

I did drive in the rain and wash the truck, no leaks in the cap at least, even with the piss poor tailgate seal. Small victories.

Finished installing the LED strip lights recently. the small LED light that came with the topper is mounted to the OEM cargo lamp circuit(cargo lamp on the cab bulbs have been removed). These are wired to 12v hot, so they can be on any time. Great for camping, they draw a minute amount of power, so no worries about a dead battery.

Installed 3 strips. Two on the roof, one on the back door to light the tailgate area. Really pleased with the way it turned out.

I drove 720 miles to pick up a Ranch Camper Shell for $700 today. Needless to say, I'm very happy for what I got! Paint match will come later, I'm just enjoying having a hard shell

my shell vendor ordered me two new windoors on arrival after I inspected them and said the craftsmanship was doodoo. We will see what shows up haha.

for that rear gap it’s like dudes, why didn’t you just make the plastic lip wider haha. Easy solution will be get some thicker weatherstripping and attach it to the door with an overhang. Then cut to fit another piece to attach so the exposed isn’t sitting sticky side out.

or maybe find some dense foam and attach to the corner of the bed there…

How did you attach the hi lift? Are those just drop down brackets from the bed rail channel?

    Thanks.

Can't find a CM cap anywhere local, so driving 5 hours to pick one up and drive back tomorrow. Doesn't even match, but the price is right. Being limited by my tonneau has been a pain with family camping trips.

The dealer has this leer cap, paint was peeling so they had it at their house, along with a bed rug. Picked it up after I got the truck and they had 4-5 other caps there, said guys these days don't want caps on their truck and once they remove them, the truck then sells fast. Anyways, free topper and bedrug!

SmartCap-like steel shell with my Front Runner Slimline II tray. The shell has the main window in the rear but also has 2 gullwings on the sides. All doors have 2 latches but you can't really open the latches from the inside, which isn't the best since I sleep in my truck bed when I go camping. Still working on a solution for this, but I believe RSI is coming out with a latching system for their shells that can be opened from the inside. I might be able to make that latching system compatible with my off-brand shell.

Thank you. Looks solid! I'm thinking matte black for my celestial silver truck. I'm surprised there are not more trucks with this wheel.
