Picked up a used shell a while back and finished fixing the modded back door:

2020 that I bought used; already had the cap on it. And that's the main reason I "settled" for a dark colored truck (prefer lighter colors such as silver). But it sure is purty when it's clean! And it keeps my hunting, fishing, camping stuff dry and relatively secure.

Hey fellas. Can someone with an ARE topper snap a photo on clearance between third brake light/bed light and the shell.

trying to figure out if an aftermarket LED light would have clearance issues. Thanks.

bonus points if it’s an ARE overland on a CrewMax.

Personally I wanted the ARE windoors for the dog …also felt good about the my local dealer as far as installation.
I did like the Leer rear glass but I’m happy with the simplicity of the CX

I also went with the ARE, but I went with the Overland. I like the two-tone look. It's a good topper and no issues, I also had an ARE on my Taco before.

My Leer had an issue with the seal on the door that it took a while to get resolved (mostly the fault of the dealer) but I think they went to a different design for that seal on the new ones.

awesome. Thanks fellas. The aftermarket light would for sure not fit so this saved me some time. My ARE overland should be here in a month or so. Had a snugtop on my Tacoma decided to give ARE a go this time around.

I ordered the exact same spec for my DC a few weeks ago, only in silver.

    Quick questions:
-the sliding part of the windoors, do they have screens?
-How far do the sliding part of the windoors open? I've noticed on some pics of the crewmax with the same setup the sliding part appears to only open a few inches before it hits the edge of the window or the latch.

    It shld def include screens
As far as windoors and their opening yes they do bump the rear latch
But gives good airflow to the pup
I can post up a pic later if that helps ya

Wait the windoors with sliders have a screen on them for ARE? I thought they did not, but if they do that is great.

    Thanks!! just wanted to confirm.

Just as a reference, something that's weird. When i was looking for a cap i first went to my local Leer dealer. They called Leer and were told they do not offer vented windoors for any Tundra which i thought was odd, especially seeing some on here. I like the ones Leer uses more, but i just went with the ARE who had no problem ordering it. I've had really good luck with ARE on my last truck too.

Well shit yea, didn't think they came with screens, now I don't have to make my own.
Think Leer stopped the vented windoor, not sure why.

I do like your setup…sometimes I look at mine & wish it didn’t look like a old truck back glass on each side
but the windoors are sooo functional regardless of design

getting my ARE Overland installed this afternoon, will post pics when shes all done.

Pretty much 2 months to the date from ordering to arrival. Not too shabby.

Similar story here! Just picked up my ARE today. Took about 6 weeks from the time it was ordered.

Planning to add some extra lighting inside.

Not super thrilled with the rear window. I had the old style on a previous topper, decided to "upgrade" on this one. The bottom seal on the window doesn't make good contact with the tailgate. Install guys tried to move the cap forward, tried to adjust the latches, etc. It's close but still not there in the middle part of the tailgate. Anyone else have this issue?

My guys talked me into the older style rear glass/handle
said a lot of the new version fitment can be off
I will check with him and see if he has a solution

Thanks. I never had any issues with my older style setup. It's not the end of the world, just annoying since it's supposed to be an upgrade/improvement

She’s on. Pretty dang heavy duty compared to my Tacoma shell. Limo mode engaged. Quality seems good. Couple minor things were scuffed but nothing i would refuse the shell for. Gotta run to a banquet so I’ll get better photos tomorrow.

    here’s my one gripe:
    IMG_0113.jpg
ARE brothers with the same back door, is there always this much gap?

I’ll have to find some thick weather stripping to attach to the rear hatch.

everything else seems legit, windows and doors so much heavier than the ones I had on my Tacoma shell. I’ll get some interior photos later today.

pretty happy with how the quicksand and line-x play together color wise.

@mista_g that cap looks great on your truck. The bed liner breaks up the color and compliments your wheels.
