This is what i hope to do. I drive a good number of FSR for work, not sure if you do as well.

Any issues with the hatchback door? Ever need to install bed stiffeners?

    Is this a 29 - 36" shell?

    Any insight would help. Thanks!

Do y'all every take crap from your friends about your cap being an "old guy" thing? I got a text the other day when I had the truck in the driveway: " Hey, is your dad at your house?"

Hell, my wife and her mother give me and her father crap about it all the time (we both have caps on our trucks). Can't beat the space, though.

The women and the amount of stuff they bring on trips are the reason for the caps, though.

I am involved in the youth program in my church. It involves camping and I am not a tent person. A queen air mattress fits nicely in the double cab bed. I love having my own, comfortable space up off the ground. I ran 12v for the cap light and a couple outlets. Beats a tent by a mile.

My 2 boys are going to be old enough for the youth program in a couple years, so I'm planning on 10+ years of camping in my cap. At 57,000 miles being a third vehicle, I think my tundra will be there the whole time.

We take the trailer pictured above for camping as a family.

My wife, our toddler and I went on a short trip last weekend. 48 hours away from home including ~9 hours of travel and we stayed in a hotel. Had to take the truck because we took two strollers (only one of which we used), a sled (not used) and a wagon (not used but we thought we might need it to haul stuff up to our room if the hotel didn't have any luggage carts available). I tried to convince my wife to pack light enough to allow us to take a more fuel efficient vehicle but she wasn't having any of it.

We have the opposite problem. We did an 800 mile trip with our trailer last summer and my wife was lamenting that we couldn't take the sienna for gas mileage.

Not yet, but then again, I've only had mine w/ cap for a little over a week... Before I got the truck and was talking about putting a cap on, my wife was making comments about it looking like her dad's truck and looking like a "grandpa" lol. Recently, she had to have her car taken to the shop a couple times, and even though there is another vehicle she could've taken to work instead, she decided to take the truck...secretly she likes it. She hated telling me about some of the comments she was getting from people when she drove it in about how good it looked!

Yours is on it's way to bring a fully functional camper. I dont think it's funny.

Odd how the most functional caps are the ones that are most mocked.

Finally ordered my ARE DCU a few weeks ago and should be getting it installed end of this month. If you've got a DCU, DCC, Tradesman or similar, would be interested to get your thoughts on my build plans over on Commercial Aluminum Caps: Let's See 'Em!

Leer top, forgot which model but it’s pretty basic. Started as a means for hauling when I moved cross country.

I've decided I want the convenience of a softopper.

Any experiences with those? I've yet to find a negative review.

    I'd be selling my Snugtop.

Yes, I am looking at taking the toppers off of both trucks this summer. Just need to find somewhere to store them.

    Thinking about the same.
