I've been wanting to get a drawer from you guys. But I want to install one side. Is that actually possible? I want to use it as a sleeping platform haha

There is the A.R.E. CX HD which definitely will. I'm looking at Snugtop as they have one that will hold 500lbs.

While you can install only half of the system, it is not something that we outwardly support or promote. Our system is meant to be used with both sides to ensure proper tie downs and safety. That being said we have seen some people find ways to install only half of the system successfully by drilling directly in the truck bed to bolt down the center vert. Without securing the center vert your system will bounce around and could fly out. We DO NOT only sell half of the system so you will have to do some testing on your own. Also, only installing 1/2 of the system will void our warranty.

Hoping you can find the perfect solution.

So I had a RTT on my ARE Overland shell on my Tacoma but its not super recommended because they usually only have a 200 pound dynamic load rating.

What I am doing differently with my Tundra is getting a Snugtop with the sportsmans package. What that includes is fiberglass reinforcement to increase the load rating to 500 pounds dynamic (meaning in motion, going down the road). It should be to me in about 3 weeks, pretty excited. Got sliding windoors on both sides, a fold up front window, tracks on the roof and the power rear lock that actuates with the remote entry.

In all of my research I have not been able to find a fiberglass camper shell that has a higher weight rating than a Snugtop with Sportsmans package.

What did they quote you for that? I got a quote for almost the same features on one and it was $3300.

what was the dynamic rating of the ARE CX HD? It has a 550lb load capacity but I don’t see the “dynamic” rating.

I wouldn't know on that model but when I called ARE for the Overland they said the dynamic was 200 pounds

Plenty of guys run RTT on standard caps. I haven't seen any remarks about damage occuring from too much weight. I ran a 120 lb hard shell on a rack that weighs another 60 lbs for 6000 miles and had no problems. Just make sure the rack is able to distribute the load across the entire length both sides of the cap roof.

It might be different if you are planning to run high speed whoops but paved roads and mild off roading is most likely fine.

I just got a quote for the Leer 180 for my '12 DC w/ 6'6" bed here in Alaska. Quote was $2,875!!! Does this sound about right? I thought it'd be around $1,500-$1,800. I'm new to Alaska, so it might be due to the location. Any input on the price?

Sounds about right. I ordered a Century Cap last week. Only upgrades I did was Headliner, slider/removable front window, and roof rack and it came out to around $2700 here in MT, that includes color match, install, and shipping too.

If you just wanted the cap from the factory from century for a crewmax the ultra sport is $2,008 no upgrades. The royal is $2,480 no upgrades. The most expensive upgrade is the rack. I got the Thule Tracker II. $450 the aero blades r $650.. fwiw..most the window and headliner upgrades are just over 140 bucks each. I feel I paid right at market value MT is an out of route delivery area so shipping would be a little more like Alaska would be. I chose Century because they r a sister company to ARE or LEER and the dealer was much better to work with. The same setup but ARE was over $4100 from a different dealer. CX HD which is the same layout as the Century Ultra Sport.....

Yeah man, welcome to AK, and welcome to AK additional pricing. Shipping prices are crazy. For many things, you’ll learn Amazon Prime is your friend. I try to shop local as much as possible, but paying an extra 25% on larger purchases just doesn’t make sense.

Here is a topper local in Anchorage. Please buy it so I can stop thinking about getting it.

Lol, I saw that one. But I have a DC and this is for a CM.

Have you heard of Six Roblees’? That’s who I got my quote from. Wondering if they’re legit.

Hard for me to justify a new topper that costs nearly 25% of what I paid for the truck...

Six Roblees has been around for as long as I can remember.

I actually have bought two shells from their location on Old Seward. Could have sworn it was a different company tho. Maybe Six Roblees bought them out.

A used ARE for my old 01 Tundra like 15 years ago. Happened to be matching color, and they had me in/out in a couple hours. Perfect install.

Then a new one for my 2010 Rock Warrior. First Snugtop fit horribly with lots of chips and cracking of the gel coat. Not sure if it was install error, shipping error, or supplier error. They did however let me swap it out for a Leer with no install charge, but did nothing for the scuffed / rubber paint marks on my truck.

Top Notch in Anchorage looks like they have great reviews. Personally have not used them.

My junkyard leer 100r I paid $200 for and paid $200 to have color matched (fiberglass for the 1st gen 8ft seems to be rare)

SPC UCA arms, no CMC. Little bit of rubbing on mud flap when in reverse. Just need to do a little heating and forming. It came out exactly the way i wanted. Tires aren't sticking out too much. I was trying to keep the tires from throwing rocks on the body as much as possible.
