So I found this the other day on FB Marketplace, which I can not stand by the way and figured I had to jump on it!

When am I likely to find another Tundra LB Shell anywhere again?!

This shell is for a 2nd gen while my truck is a 3rd gen and the difference is exactly the difference in the thickness of the tailgate between the two generations of Tundras!

So the guy and I slid it right into place and clamped it down and off I went, there is a 1-1/2" gap at the cab end and I already have a 2"x2" aluminum L channel ready to rivet to the back of the shell there to close the gap. The shell fits perfectly and looks almost perfect but that gap is there and the color is a slightly different shade too if you look closely!:D

So I already bought a bedliner kit and a going to roll it black herculiner and pretend that I planned it this way.

And I only paid $100 for the shell!

I also had about a 4 hour round trip drive to get it and in the middle my arms were aching,I realized thatit has been so long since I have driven anywhere that I am too out of shape to drive without my arms hurting?! What a crazy time we are living in.:anonymous:

No kidding! And I dig the RW rims too.

I’ve been watching BC and AB for quite some time. Good deals on used caps for our trucks are few and far between, IME.

So far, my only complaint with my short box Leer Legend is that it was $600 more than what my father in law paid for a standard box Leer 100XR 9 years ago from the same dealer. Though he has a fixed front window and mine is sliding and removable.

Thanks and I have no clue, haha. I just got them on yesterday and haven't put a mile on them yet. I had KO2's before but now I have a little daily driver car so figured I would give them a shot.

didn't want to start a thread or anything just for this so I will put it here. I have been looking and thinking of ways to black out the windows in the shell for the couple times I might sleep in it on trips. I was NOT wanting to spend much for the few times I would need it, I have looked at few RV style things but was more than I wanted to waste. Was just starting to think of going with some thing from Lowes when wife needed to stop into Dollar Tree. Found these awful window shades and even Velcro that sticks to the inside carpet. I have $6 into my new black out window kit and an Amazon twin air mattress for $25 on the way. I got off cheap for a change.

That stuff will work great. I've used Reflectix in mine for awhile now and it's a huge improvement.

Since my cap is not carpeted inside I just stuck heavy duty Velcro to a few places along the window frame and to the Reflectix.

Haven't had any issues with it so far.

I know this has been touched upon before but wanted to once again see if anyone has experience with finding a cap from another truck manufacturer such as ford, et. that would fit on a Tundra 4 door extended cab (2015). As per most comments I received quotes from $1500 to over 2k for new and does not justify cost for amount of use I will use it for. I watch craigslist daily but do not find too many caps for trucks in my newer year for sale, plenty for Toyotas 10 years old etc. as well as caps for F150's, Silverados, Rams etc. where the size description seems to come close but due to distance of seller not sure if its worth taking the chance. I would even be fine with an old school aluminum camper shell which I personally like the look of and see them listed here and there very cheap but not sure if the newer ones (priced at $1,500!) have a front contour that is fitted to the truck or they all typically sit on bed like a square box. Anybody get lucky with a shell manufactured for another truck but fit pretty well on a tundra?

Sure you just need to measure and try to get accurate measurements from the seller and then decide how much perfection you are willing to accept or not.

I just went through this and can not recount the whole thing right now but maybe search for my posts or just keep searching here in general and it sort of becomes obvious after a while.

Also I found a dealer here who just shot me straight about the things to look for in a mismatched shell and he was spot on really.

There is fit and then there is fit if you know what I mean?

Anyone have a topper that can support an RTT? Trying to decide on which way to go.

Thanks for all the topper pics!
